I have a question about my power window switch on my 1977 crew cab. I have not yet removed any of the door panels because of a fear of finding a huge wiring mess.

Currently my 4 window switch is loose, my guess a clip somewhere is broken. All 4 windows go up and down like they should but my front driverside switch is goofy.

The switch closest to the driver or near the rear of the truck raises and lowers the driverside window, up is up and down is down.

The next switch forward raises and lowers the passenger window, up is up and down is down

Now it gets goofy

The next switch forward raises and lowers the driverside rear window, but down is up and up is down.

The last switch closest to the front of the truck raises and lowers the passenger rear window, but down is up and up is down.

Now I know what I have is not correct but what is the correct order of the 4 window switches.

Also when I push a switch down a window should go down right, not the other way around.

Sounds like the switch is in upside-down?

The window sequence is correct, but the up down operation is not. Up should be up and down should be down. Might be mismatch in a wiring somewhere. Do the switches on the back door go in the right direction?

Hmm. '77 was the first year for power windows and they were very uncommon. Also, I seem to remember that the early power window equipped crew cabs ONLY had power FRONT windows. Unless I'm off my rocker, the rear power windows were added.

I finally braved the cold and checked the window operation. All the other 3 doors work correctly up is up and down is down. So I feel it's just a wiring mistake at the driverside window switch.

Also I removed one of the rear door panels to see if a PO hacked in power rear windows. I believe it's all factory or someone did a really good job using all GM original wires, plugs and clips. Someone could have swapped doors too I guess. Would it have been hard to find correct matching color doors and run all the wiring.

Non of my power locks work either, so while I had the rear door panel off. I reached into the rear door and found the power door lock unit. Now I guess I need to trace more wires.

So is my 1977 Silverado Dually Quad Cab rare with power windows, power locks, and cruise control?

Cruise control, not so much. But I don't recall ever seeing a 70's crew cab with power windows, besides the internet.
