    My new square

Nice looking truck, the center caps are easy to find, ebay,lmc,classicparts.com,etc. I would leave the emissions alone, mine were taken off before I bought it and I think it hurt the gas mileage and it didn't make the engine run any better. Mine's an 86 so the carburetor has a solenoid on it, so...

Why does my door have slop?

If you just loosen it a little it should be fine for the adjustment. I don't think the nut ( I think it's a metal plate)would fall off. I agree with installing the plastic piece, mine were missing too, and it made a big difference. I had to slam my driver's door to shut it when I got the truck...

    New bed floor

This is an old thread, but I'm planning on replacing my wooden floor on a 86 shortbed stepside. How difficult is it and I believe I have to remove or lower the dual gas tanks to access all the bolts? I'd like to make my own but maybe I'm better off buying the wood kit, I'm sure it's a lot easier...

    Sticky choke

I don't know if this helps but if there is a fuse it may have blown. My trucks an 86 with a 305ci and the choke light was on when I bought it. I checked the fuse and it was blown, and after I replaced it the light went out.

    Valve seal replacement

Thanks for the information, and the bolt size and about the magnet, I have to get one of those too. You fellas are right about an air compressor but I've read it has to be a decent size one, at least 150 psi I believe. I did look on Craigslist and saw a few and checked out Harbor Freight ones...

    Valve seal replacement

Thanks guys for the advice, I appreciate it. I would prefer using air if I had a compressor. I really don't want to buy one, because I probably won't have a use for it other than airing up tires. So what size socket do I need to turn the crankshaft?

    Valve seal replacement

Thanks Brandon, you use the rope to pack the cylinder and then bring the piston up as high as possible so the valve doesn't fall in.

    Valve seal replacement

I want to change the valve stem seals in a 305ci without pulling the heads. I'm getting some blue smoke after starting. The compression seems fine and the plugs are all dry so I think it's just the seals are old and probably original. I don't have a air compressor so I was going to try using the...

86 C10 stepside fender front brace mounting

That's a big help, the picture gives me a good idea of where it should go. It looks like it mounts to the rail piece for the floor boards. I'll take a look at it tomorrow. Thanks for the replies to both of you, I really appreciate it.

    Any square body recyclers/wreckers?

Is there any way to mount your old bowtie to a new grill? I agree it's going to be hard to find a nice used grill that old. This one doesn't have the bowtie but it's inexpensive. http://www.usa1industries.com/1977-80-fullsize-chevy-truck-front-grille-w-o-bowtie-logo.html

86 C10 stepside fender front brace mounting

My truck was missing a few of the rear fender braces. I bought some but I'm trying to figure out where the top hole mounts, it's the front brace closest to the cab. I know the lower part mounts to the fender but I'm not sure where the top mounts. Any help is appreciated. I hope they're made...

    HELP!!!, 1986 wiper/turn signal lever

It should pop back in. It looks like you have a gap between the chrome piece and the black part. I would take it back off and get those two pieces flush with each other and try installing it again. I replaced mine and it popped right in, now the wiring that's a different story.

    name this color? lol

It looks similar to the older truck next to it that has a factory color but a little darker. That's a nice color.

Side mirrors missing bottom bolts or anchors.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of anchor or bolt to use for the bottom hole on stock mirrors. Mine are missing, there's just a hole there. I really don't want to take off the door panel to use a nut and bolt. The mirrors are in good shape so I really didn't want to buy new ones...

    Rear view cameras

I wouldn't suggest that either. I thought one would be nice for backing up though. I have one in my GMC Terrain and really like it especially when backing up to my boat trailer.

    Having my truck painted

That's for sure, not there's anything wrong with that, lol. I got the truck back and he did a nice job for the money. I'm going to have him buff it out though, so it should look even nicer. He said he would buff it out for $150. which sounds like a good deal to me. I went this far so I might as...

    Having my truck painted

Thanks, I might be getting it back today. I hope he did a decent job, pictures can be deceiving. It only took him a few weeks and like I said the price was very reasonable. I know a regular shop would have charged probably 2-3 times what he did.

Here's a few more pictures I just received from the painter. Hopefully it looks as good in person. I noticed he didn't remove the windshield wipers.

    Having my truck painted

I'm having my truck painted by a professional painter on the side. The price was very reasonable, hopefully it turns out nice. I should have it back in a week or so and I'll post some pictures of it. I'm keeping it the original color, and he's not doing the door jambs they look pretty decent...
