    Possible Flexplate and Balancer Issue

I mainly did a cam swap. So cam, value guides, springs, had a bad balancers that spun so that, and the flexplate had worn teeth, then other basic consumables. Everything else is essentially still 350 parts.

    Possible Flexplate and Balancer Issue

Well I didn't take the whole engine apart it was still in the truck. The truck was given to me by my late grandfather who told me it was a 400. When I was told it was a 4 bolt main after changing the oil pan gasket I had to make sure it was a 400. When I finally had a chance, I checked the block...

    Possible Flexplate and Balancer Issue

Hello, I was rebuilding my engine in the truck was always told it was a 400 so I bought everything for that engine. However after installing most items and cleaning the block up I realized it was actually a 350. I know the 400 was externally balanced and 350 internally. Will this cause any...

    Headlight Switch Connector

Hey guys, My switch got fried and toasted some wires and now I can't really tell where they go to. Someone help with some pictures of the colored wires and where they go to? I really appreciate it. This is a short term fix as I plan to get a Painless Performance wiring kit next year.

    Replace thermostat without draining fluid?

Just undo the bolts to the housing with the hose still on and have it point vertically while you change it, should be a small mess but nothing more than a quart or two at most.

    Starving for Fuel!?!?

I run those and I've had no issue, but i was thinking just to diagnose the issue. It would be easy to go back to not having that filter.

    Starving for Fuel!?!?

If you run one of those cheap clear filters before the carb you'll quickly be able to tell if fuel had been flowing. I would start with that and force it to stall in a safe area so you can check that. It'll at least give you an idea if its from the before or after the pump.

    Horn not working

That sounds like the turn signal cam is causing the issue then.

    Short bed side rust prevention?

I have zero personal experience with rust but I have heard of people using a spray on bedliner to help prevent rust build up. Not sure if that would be something you'd want to look into.

    Oil leaking?

No idea than, there should be technically no pressure there if it wasn't running.

    Oil leaking?

Was the truck running when you were pushing it? I've had the problem of the oil breather cap spilling but it just made a messy valve cover. Taller covers cured that for me. Not sure what else may cause that.

    454 efi

https://www.onallcylinders.com/2015/05/01/ask-away-how-electronic-fuel-injection-efi-affects-cam-idle-hint-you-may-not-like-it/ This was what I was talking about it has to do more with the sensors. TL;DR The vacuum signal gets dampened to look like a smooth line than a jagged one, carbs "see"...

    454 efi

If I'm not mistaken when you go EFI, the self learning acts to reduce the lope of the cam and reduces the noise? I remember reading it in a magazine but can't recall which. I may be wrong however.

    No Start After Cam Swap

I'm leaning to maybe the valves are to tight, when I assembled the engine I adjusted the valve lash with the lifters empty, could it be that possibly when the engine started the lifters filled with oil and changed the valve lash thus making them to tight? Just pondering here.

    No Start After Cam Swap

Hello! So I did a few test and took some things apart. I double checked I am 100% certain I have fuel (jets spray in carb and I have 2 clear filters full of fuel), Checked each cylinder for spark and cleaned the plugs (slightly fouled from cranking so much), checked compression I'm at 120 (plus...

Welcome from El Paso. For the spark plugs I'd recommend Copper preferably AC Delco.

    No Start After Cam Swap

I got it to start once after a few minor fixes, I didn't leave it running since the idle was to low to stay on solo. Now I can only get it to sputter and have moved the distributor around and jumped teeth back and forth.

    No Start After Cam Swap

I retarded the crank sprocket because I read that it can help give a little more power at the top end which my truck tend lack a little. The timing set I installed had multiple keyways to install, it had a stock keyway, an advance keyway, and a retard keyway.

    No Start After Cam Swap

That is correct, the thing is that when it ran the idle was to low so it would only run with a little bit of throttle I also needed to charge my battery. I have reset the distributor 3 times after that though jumping one tooth forward and one back each time when the puff came out the spark plug...

    No Start After Cam Swap

On my 1978 K20 with a 350 4BLT main, I swapped in a Comp Cam 280h 12-212-2, double timing gear on the key way for 4* of timing retard. I previously had an edelbrock intake, 1.5 roller rockers, MSD cap, rotor, and a Digital 6 plus box, a 750 manual choke carb. I got everything in and situated...
