As mentioned previously the old point distributors are in fact very good but it is even harder to find quality parts them than for the HEI. Condensers are the real problem. Then you have to modify your wiring from HEI to points, and add a coil. Also, points are not maintenance free. But when...- Rebuildman

HEI module dwell time.
If you are not using a GM module in your HEI distributor then there is a good possibility your dwell time is not correct thru the entire RPM range, which also affects timing. I also use TPI on some engines which uses a small cap HEI, it has no advance built into the distributor it is all...- Rebuildman

So, at $2600 let's say $1000 is for parts, I am sure a transmission shop can get through a teardown and rebuild in 8 hours. That's $200/hr. labor charge?- Rebuildman
