How did you like the MY6? I've thought about one of them behind a 292 straight six I have sitting. Not sure about the gear ratios and strength, the 292 will be very torque-y.- 496bb

I don't think the 292 had the integrated head. The Clifford stuff is expensive, and even a used 4 bbl intake still fetch a decent price. Tom at 12Bolt is a wealth of knowledge on the straight sixes, and has alot of parts available as well. I have a fresh 292 that was going into my 49...- 496bb

Agreed, didn't ask for a parts store suggestion. Everybody has their opinion on which to use or not, and we all know what they say bout opinions. I bought a new, not reman, with lifetime warranty. Price not terribly more than reman, heck it even came with new starter bolts! Don't wanna try...- 496bb

Bucket, The linked newer truck version has a slightly different solenoid setup - looks like a large lug connecting to motor and another large lug below it. Assuming the one small terminal is the 'S' terminal. Connect battery wire to the bottom one that is opposite of the motor connection...- 496bb

Rick - already did all the tests and diagnosed the starter. Simply want to test the 37 year old wires while its easy and just confirm while they are disconnected and I can manipulate them a bit.- 496bb

I don't think I have any parasitic draws. PO let it sit for months and months, so I think he kinda damaged this battery already. I got busy and let it sit for about 3 months during the summer, and it's pretty much done, but it's about 3 years old anyway. It won't be a daily right now, but...- 496bb

Anyone used the Glowshift gauge setup
It's almost half of the others. My biggest gripe is it has no odometer, just a tripmeter. But otherwise, seems like an option.- 496bb
