Factory Stand Alone 0411 PCM for 4L80e

I had a 4l80 from an astro van, but it was late ninties. Got rid of it and got one from a 90 chevy 3500. I hope this wasn't a mistake, but through research, I read that the 90 to 95 used a TCM and you can get those pretty cheap and doesn't require reprograming/flashing/tun as I don't have...

What have you done to your square lately??

Added this head unit and figuring out if I want to mount it in upper AC vent slot, or keep it in middle. I moved hvac down to bottom slot, since it was opened already.

Dash clips- how do you get them in?

Thanks, I ended up having to dig in at an angle and rotate them in. Oh, and lots of trimming urethane.

Dash clips- how do you get them in?

I’m assuming this is correct? The short tab goes into slot right under it?

Does dash pad go under windshield weatherstripping?

Sorry fellas, I was installing audio system. Nothing under it, but hump from metal. I didn’t put dash clips in, so maybe that’s it? If I don’t push dash under weatherstripping, it is way too far out to bolt down in front.

Dash clips- how do you get them in?

I find lots of threads about pads, but not how to get the clips in. I have this pad from summit and it is of poor quality over speaker areas. Another problem is metal where you are supposed to install clips seems buried and inaccessible. I tried to bend a tab on one clip and it broke. Do I...

New head unit turns on and then right back off.

@Rusty Nail Hahaha It was behind the dash in that sock, I found it when getting access to the cig lighter hot wire. Must have been there for many years. @mtbadbob hahahaha

New head unit turns on and then right back off.

Mission accomplished! Now to figure out head unit. I want to move hvac down to bottom and maybe put head unit in middle.

New head unit turns on and then right back off.

I thought it was going to be also, but a distribution block made it simple. Check out what I found while hunting for wires under the dash. Lol

New head unit turns on and then right back off.

Update: it was the red wire. The head unit didn’t stay on long enough to turn amp and sub on. Thank you guys for your help. Has anyone ever used strong velcro to stick amp and sub to back of cab?

New head unit turns on and then right back off.

So, I drilled hole into cab floor and attached the ground from the sun and the amp to it. I attached the yellow run power wire to the yellow head unit wire in diagram, but didn’t connect red wire because I thought it was only for accessory mode. Does the radio run while the truck is on from...

New head unit turns on and then right back off.

So, when I turn key to run, the unit comes on for about four seconds. From turn on image to switching to radio “frequencies” on screen, but immediately powers off. I feel like I have it wired correctly. I don’t have red wire for accessory mode, but that’s it. Is it going to be a bad head unit...

Does dash pad go under windshield weatherstripping?

I assume it does, but when I force pad down to screw it in, there is a big hump at passenger defroster vent area. Any advice is appreciated. -Dan

1982 GMC - What do I have? What can I tow?

So, it’s not the height of the C channel, but the thickness of the metal that determines if I have the HD, or LD 3/4 ton truck. I will search for frame thickness numbers, unless anyone here knows where I can find that info. Much appreciated.

1982 GMC - What do I have? What can I tow?

So, I know yours is a one ton, so I guess this confirms mine is an HD 3/4.

1982 GMC - What do I have? What can I tow?

I hope it’s ok for me to ask more on this. So, what area of the frame do you measure to find out? I ask because in front of rear axle outer to outer measurement of frame is 6.5-ish, but from above rear axle to end of frame it is outside it is 4.75-ish.

@bucket they are originally white, so I was thinking aftermarket, but One of the other wheels was clearer, so they are 16x6.5. Lol
