Does the vacuum advance work as it should?

Looks like I have to rebuild or replace my 350 in Houston area

I picked it up today. The AC is recharged, will have to wait and see if any leaks out. If it does, I will probably take it to the guy who installed my conversion. It's hard to start, and I replaced the battery the first time I picked it up. Also idle is set pretty high (by ear, I don't have a...

Looks like I have to rebuild or replace my 350 in Houston area

Over the last almost 15years I guess, I have been finding it difficult to find anyone who does anything right anymore. A couple of times I've had good people doing good work, but few and far between. If I were in a different position, I would've done it myself, but I'm also having trouble...

Looks like I have to rebuild or replace my 350 in Houston area

Yeah, no one cares anymore. I work on it myself otherwise, I just don't have the means at the moment for something like this. I picked it up Friday and it's still leaking from the same spot. I also discovered the ac lines were probably cut during removal or re-install because it doesn't blow...

Looks like I have to rebuild or replace my 350 in Houston area

Didn't realize this thread had legs. I ended up looking around for a shop, picked the most well known in town, Texon because they do the removal and install and offer a 3yr/36 if they do. I'm not 51, not 15, didn't grow up working on cars and have done plenty of jobs on my cars and truck that...

Looks like I have to rebuild or replace my 350 in Houston area

Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere to work on it, or a hoist, so I've got to get it done at a shop.

Looks like I have to rebuild or replace my 350 in Houston area

I've got a 77 c10 with the 350/350. Seems I had an oil leak that went unnoticed since my pressure gauge inside read fine and I had no spots on the ground, so crank bearings are toast. I don't have a space or tools to work on rebuilding it myself, so if anyone has any leads for either shops in...

How many gallons can you put in your gas tank?

Same. Previous owner replaced the 20 with a 16. I know the cheapest gas stations in all the neighborhoods I frequent.

Anybody in Houston that has 11"x2" rear drums?

I bought some drums and shoes from RA not realizing I had the 2 3/4"s, and shipping them back isn't really worth it. Anybody need 'em? They are the AC Delco gold. Drums and shoes.

    Shuddering when braking

I have a similar problem, and I suspect it's not the brakes at all, since my rotors are only a couple of years old, new front pads, and I rebuilt my drum brakes for this problem and still have it. At first I suspected the praking brake, but it seems to be working fine pre- and post- rebuild...

What did you pay for a square

Paid 7k for mine, running and driving with a rebuilt engine and transmission just before the pandemic shut down. It's got some issues still, but I daily drive it.

Bilstein HDs on 77 C10 with drop spindles

Hi all. I've got a 77 C10 with drop spindles up front and shackles in the rear, 2.5" drop. I'm looking at buying some Bilstein HDs, just want to make sure the stock size shocks are the right ones to buy. Will they fit?

1977 C10 AC not working, solution suggestions

Thank you Does anyone know what brand the LMCtruck compressor is? It seems I'm unable to find out from the online sellers which Sanden compressor would work, so it's either the unit from LMC or a Four Seasons one from Rockauto.

1977 C10 AC not working, solution suggestions

Anyone know what the electrical bypass is? Blower motor blew its fuse again. Truck was rewired, so not looking forward to trying to figure that one out. I'm about to order parts, just want to make sure I got everything Drier orifice tube o rings cycling switch schrader valves compressor -...

    Amazon TIG welders?

You will also need an argon cylinder. If it doesn't come with high freq start, you'll want that (a foot pedal or torchmount switch). As mentioned, it won't weld aluminum (need ac current for that). If you're doing the occasional thing, this might suit. If you want to make things on a regular...

1977 C10 AC not working, solution suggestions

This is the jumpered connection. I've never messed with an AC system before, so parts/terms/etc. are new to me, and I don't have the vacuum pump or gauges for doing the whole job myself. The drier is the aluminum can in the last picture, correct?

1977 C10 AC not working, solution suggestions

Hi all. I've got a 77 C10 350 with factory air that has a leak. I generally am a warm weather person, but with summers getting hotter every year I want to get it addressed before my pup bursts into flames on the way to the park. I took it to a shop and the guy said the compressor is bad...

I need help and to know what this truck is worth

I would pass. You'd have to pay me to take it, and I'd probably pass on that, too. These trucks are getting more expensive, but they still aren't that hard to find. To me, that's a parts truck.

    Deleting the Catalytic Converter

They do benefit me, and it seems the new ones can be had for a reasonable price. My truck is not a race truck. It isn't fast and it will never be fast (and doesn't currently have the original cat on it as it stands), so I don't care about performance gains. That said, there's no wrong answer...

    Deleting the Catalytic Converter

Agreed. I'm sure you can find someone who is not running one and you can smell for yourself. Mine is a 77 longbed that the PO welded straight pipes (actual pipe, not tubing) onto, so no cat. My opinion is that it doesn't smell great, especially now with the corn mixed in our fuel, but it's...

1984 C10 305 stall at low speeds, loss of power during accel

I can't get to mine with the air cleaner on either, so I just go a tad richer when setting it because I'm no rocket scientist :)

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

If it helps any, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one doing everything at least twice. Recently working on rear drum rebuilds, got one apart, realized my 11"x 2" replacements were the wrong size so I had to put it back together, get the 2 3/4" shoes and bigger drums, get them rebuilt and...

1984 C10 305 stall at low speeds, loss of power during accel

So the stall issue is fixed with the carb rebuild, which makes sense given the problem with the speed bump. Probably dislodged some gunk that clogged a passage or needle, and now you're in the clear. Current problem is the idle. You mentioned the mixture screws, but not the idle speed screw...
