    Transmission ID

Thank you Nick, it is a "K" case so I think I did okay getting it. It also has the grooves you mentioned. I have too many unknowns concerning the drive/driven gear. The only part I have is the large green driven gear and I would have to pull the cover off the diff because I have no idea what...

    Transmission ID

I have a couple questions. I am putting a 700r4 into my '73 C10. I had bought a trans but it was no good so I took what I might need off of it. The tail shaft housing was one. Yesterday I got another one, guaranteed to be good. It has an electric speedo set up and I need mechanical. It has the...

    Auxiliary trans oil cooler

Here's the pictures of the cooler I was asking about. I am having a hard time convincing myself that it won't work. It sure looks like it would to me.

    Auxiliary trans oil cooler

This makes sense, mainly because there is not much space between the flat tubes and that is exactly why I asked the question. Thank you.

    Auxiliary trans oil cooler

Not even close, there may be ones that do look like that but the one I have is like a stacked plate. I'll get a picture of it and post it later today

    Auxiliary trans oil cooler

It looks just like a stacked plate cooler. The one I have came out of an '85 Corvette radiator, it has four stacked plates that are about 1 1/2 inches wide and the whole thing is just over a foot long each end has the flared fittings that are visible outside of the radiator.

    Auxiliary trans oil cooler

Has anyone ever taken the transmission oil cooler out of an old radiator and used it as a cooler by itself?

    TH350 To a 700r4 transmission

I bought a Monster 700r4 that was supposed to handle 500 hp. The filter fell into the pan on that one and fried it, very well done. They did send me a new trans and converter but I had to pay shipping. Two weeks later it went belly up. They were in my Corvette and I never raced it, I never did a...

    700R4 Information Thread

Awful lot of good information there. I have rebuilt a couple of the 700R4s and somehow they performed great. The guy who was helping me told me that if you can rebuild a 700R4, then you can rebuild any automatic trans

    Oil pressure

Update, I thought I had this problem solved but I was wrong. I was searching Google and found a thread about the small press in cap, (freeze plug basically) that is under the rear main cap and that if it was missing the oil pressure would drop way down at idle. An internal leak. When I first...

    speedometer question

According to Equus gauges, it is called a transducer and is not needed with their speedometer.

What size is my fuel tank?

You can be positive by multiplying length, width, and height, take that total and divide by 231.The answer will be the capacity of your tank.

    speedometer question

Guys, I am installing all aftermarket gauges and I was putting a new speedo cable in when I saw a small box attached to the driven gear, it has offset connections for mounting on the trans and the other is for the cable. What is this and do I need it with aftermarket speedometer? Try to ignore...

    Lowering a '73 C10

I read the sticky and it cleared up all my questions along with all of you that made suggestions. 2.5 spindles a 3" springs will be what I use. Thanks to all who helped.

    Lowering a '73 C10

I'm NOT trying to upset you but I already know all you stated and you are right. All I want to know is will the 3" drop spindles and 3" lowering springs will get me where it is correctly or will it lower it too much. BTW, it is the suspension hitting the snubbers. Please don't think I am a...

    Lowering a '73 C10

I am wondering what others have used spec specific for drop spindles and lowering springs. I flipped the rear and it is right where I want it. I went against advice here and cut 2 coils off the front springs. The suspension now bottoms out. I'm posting a picture of the truck and I'd like to know...

    Oil pressure

I am very pleased to say that your suggestion helped tremendously. The pressure jumped right up to 30 and stayed there until it got fully warmed and then dropped to 20 and 18 in gear. This is more than enough. I'm going to flush the engine and put a new pump in and new oil. I really think after...

    Oil pressure

I was just thinking about your suggestion, that will be my next step, at least it's free, I refuse to just throw parts at it. Thanks for the suggestion.
