    Strange square holes in case...

There's a transmission shop a little over a mile down the road from me, I'll just take the case there to get his opinion on it.

    Strange square holes in case...

I watched a lot of transmission rebuild videos by Precision Transmission on YouTube before I decided to try to tackle this project. He has a lot of knowledge of all transmissions for chevy. You should check out some of his videos. I'm following his rebuild steps minus the fully manual setup for...

    Strange square holes in case...

I used a small flat head screwdriver, there's a small hole that you can use to push the retainer clip out with a few taps of the hammer.

    Strange square holes in case...

Ok here is the clutches and case body. My clutches were completely burnt up, except for 1st gear. And my accumulator spring was broke into 3 pieces.... time for the bushing removal and clean the everything up.

    Strange square holes in case...

Thanks for the knowledge, I'm about ready to pull it from the truck, just a few more bolts to loosen. Was just making sure I didn't waste money on my rebuild kit. I will send pics of when she finally is free.

    Strange square holes in case...

Yeah, was wondering if I was losing fluid to push the truck into 3rd or not

So I should continue with the rebuild?

    Strange square holes in case...

Ok, so I have discovered what looks to be a blown out case. The hole leads to the 3rd/reverse drum. It's up under the shift gear for an automatic trans. I just need to know it is can be repaired(tig weld) or has to be replaced, can't find anyone else with this problem online. But I'm guessing...

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Spoke with a transmission shop yesterday and they mentioned that, aswell as how hard it is to come by a stock converter nowadays.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Well, I have completely replaced the distributor cap, and plugs. Still have yet to check the timing. Reason for slow posts, I don't have a garage, I work in my driveway. Lately its been raining a lot, in northern Alabama. Currently working with a transmission shop on how to get my 3rd gear...

Fuel only gets to engine when tank is out of the vehicle

I just replaced my fuel tank, I would pony up the cash and replace the sender unit, she's probably clogged somewhere. You could have jostled something loose that wasn't causing issues in the old tank.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Ok, so it's very chilly outside. But great news, I got the new tank installed and somehow managed to get the carb put back together with little experience in doing it! Put about 3-4 gallons of ethanol free gas in her. After the fuel got pumped through the lines she starts right up. Now I need...

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Still installing a new gas tank, it has been raining every weekend on the days that I have time to work on it. But I have rebuilt the carburator and pulled off the old gas tank, of which had holes in the bottom of it. It never leaked because it had a layer of grease coating the bottom. But...

Will definitely try or attempt all of these.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

I'll check it out tonight when I get home, was hoping to do this all on Friday when I have the sun, and all the parts at the house.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Not a lot on there, might just fabricate some sort of cover for the gas tank. The rain just freely enters the top of the tank due to gap between bed and cab.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Yeah gunna replace the whole system, don't want this problem again. And for good measure going to put some silicon sealant around the sender unit after I install it all. It looks like the water may be settling on the tank and entering when it rains.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Yeah I've already changed the fuel filter once, will probably have to do it again after I replace the tank. It's ok though, the fuel filters are mighty easy and cheap to replace. Then after I get a new tank, I will be focusing on cleaning and rebuilding the carb.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Wasn't able to do much today, raining all day(I don't have a garage to work in). So I'll be doing the fuel test tomorrow. I already ordered a new tank and filler hose/neck. That fuel tank is leaking and looks like trash. Will keep you informed on the results.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

I'll try the jar trick with gas, to see if I have water in the tank. Also added some water remover to the tank to see if it runs better. I did notice that before it died the muffler had more than the usual amount of water shoot out of it before it died.

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

Ok, well transmission filter and fluid definitely needed changing, but it still shuts off by itself in idle now. I'm thinking there may be water in my gas....

I see that connection under there, gunna clean up the tranny fluid and filter first

Engine loses power when shifting gears(auto)

I just bought it, I have chagned the fuel filter. Carb is pretty dirty tbh. Carb is this model number: https://www.carburetion.com/CarbNumber.asp?Number=17058202 I hope it's not a bent anything in the engine, I'm newish to carbureted engines. I'm still relearning old engines. It is warmed up...
