Bench Seat Foam Fitment Options
My 86 has buckets out of god knows what that I don't really care for. My plan was to buy a used bench seat, re-foam and re-cover it, so I grabbed a seat out of an 81 from CL to do just that. Turns out I didn't look close enough at LMC to realize that they don't offer the seat back foam for 81-86...- TurdTaco64

1978 K20 Gas Gauge
Dealing with my own fuel guage issues, although different from yours. When I disconnect the ground at the sender the guage pegs to/past full, so open circuit=full.- TurdTaco64

So I checked the air pump and it's pushing air fine. I also checked temps at the cat and it's significantly hotter downstream so it appears to to be in decent condition. Then I pulled 1-4 plugs. The order of the pictures is 2-4-1-3. I don't know a lot about reading plugs but they look a bit...- TurdTaco64

Yep I know right where that is! When I was a young warthog we'd go right where his house is to shoot off model rockets! On topic, I grabbed a temp gun on my way home today and will check cat temps tonight or tomorrow. Also gonna pull some plugs tonight to see what they look like, pull the hoses...- TurdTaco64

Funny you mention Marianna Butts, since that I grew up. My parents have lived there since '97. And 15 years ago emissions laws here were a lot more lax. I could have just tagged this thing with collectors tags and been done with it.- TurdTaco64

Technically yes all original emissions equipment needs to be installed. Did they ever open the hood? Nope. Most of the time they pull out the little inspection mirror and check for cats and I didn't even see that come out this time.- TurdTaco64

EGR has been MIA since back in 'Nam and I'm 99% sure the Edelbrock intake that's on it now is non-EGR. Ive only had the truck since the beginning of September and haven't had a whole lot of time to get real intimately familiar with it yet because we also took a week long vacation since then...- TurdTaco64

Yes, Carter AFB which I believe is the same as the Edelbrock Performer? I'll have to confirm and order one of those kits. It's an 86 and just to clarify I got a new belt and reconnected the air pump before testing so it was running during the test. How effectively I can't say but the pump at...- TurdTaco64

Unfortunately the line was about 10 cars long so I was holding the gas the whole time in line. If it was shorter it would have been a lot warmer because it was a 30 mile drive to the nearest testing location that could accomodate 35's. I'm also pretty sure the thermostat is a 175* so that will...- TurdTaco64

Yeah I've been turning wrenches for a minute, I've just not had to mess with carbs and emissions since every carbed vehicle I've owned has been exempt and ran good enough so I dont have much experience there. Hey all, Hate for this to be my first post here but I just failed emissions pretty miserably and need some advice. CO was at 137, limit 40 and HC was at 4.9, limit 4.0. Test was on IM240 treadmill.
