    Rear blower resistor

Does anyone know where to get the blower resistor for the rear ac? Lmc has it grayed out on their diagram and I can only find one place online that sells it for 71$ which seems ridiculous considering I spent 30$ on the front resistor

    Carb vacuum cap blowing off

So a few months back I deleted every vacuum line out of the engine bay, and all that’s left is the brake booster, and vacuum advance. If your looking at the carb from the front (stock 83 q-jet) the top left vacuum port blows its cap off about once a month, and then it still runs good but it’ll...

    Axle width/body width questions

Interesting, when I tried researching the front 10 bolt width all I could find was a few saying 67ish inches which seemed like the standard 1/2 ton width on most trucks

    Axle width/body width questions

I have an 83 burb and it is 4x4, it just seems like even compared to 90’s trucks the wheels are just stuffed inwards so it just got thinking on actually why it’s so inboard, according to measurements the axles aren’t that much narrower than newer ones, and the body doesn’t really seem that much...

    Axle width/body width questions

So this has been itching me for a while but why do the wheels sit so far inside the body on these squarebodys. I have some 15x8 Steelies and they still sit about 3 inches inside the fenders, are the axles just that skinny? Is the body that wide?

    Tail light questions

This is just me kind of talking out my ass because the tail lights and the butt end of the suburbans is the only thing that I’m not the biggest fan of on these trucks. So my question is, has anybody ever put like an Escalade-Esque style tail lights on a square suburban, I know none of the...

    52” spring swap question

Yeah I’m hoping the lowered leaf springs will be a little stiffer to help with that, I’m just more concerned if it’ll work or if there will be interference issues

    52” spring swap question

So, I’m looking to smooth out the ride on my 83 suburban and I’ve read into the 52” spring swap on the front, my question is that I’ve read that the stock rear springs will lift the front 4”. So if I buy lowering springs will it all work with not as much changes as if it was lifted. I’m not...

Engine swap for street and towing

So I think I’ve pretty much settled on a vortec 454 converted to carb and hei for the motor, and then I think I’ll be going with an nv4500 since they also came behind those motors if I can find one locally, my suburban is a k10 so it’s got a 700r4 in it right now and I know I that won’t last...

    10 bolt cover

Do the 10 bolt front and 10 rear axles use the same cover pattern?

Engine swap for street and towing

I think the 454 is taking the lead in my mind because it’ll bolt in, I can pick up the vortec for pretty cheap from the junkyard, seems like the best bang for buck. Does anyone know if the Quadrajet off the 350 can be tuned for the 454 or would I just need to get a new carb?

Engine swap for street and towing

I have only had good experiences with my shops 09 2500 6.0 6l80 towing 19’ and 30’ scissor lifts on a tilt bed trailer. And while a 12v would be an awesome swap, and my brother knows them like the back of his hand, I’ve heard they’re a tight fit and aren’t good for the k10 frames

Engine swap for street and towing

I’ve been heavily looking into a 6l80e, depending on how cheap I can find one, I know it needs some specialized stuff to make it work behind the older motors, it’ll make it so much nicer to drive, I love it behind the 6.0 in one of the work trucks. I understand a 350 can be built to more than...

Engine swap for street and towing

While texas is relatively flat, I have a lot of family stretching from California all the way to Illinois and New York, so it would be nice to take her up there when the time comes, which is mainly why I said a comfortable towing situation haha

Engine swap for street and towing

The 454 is taking the lead in my mind for simplicity, fuel mileage isn’t supercritical to me as I have driven a big block with a very very worn out ignition that was getting 7 mpg(also a vortec 454 in my old 99’ k2500) If I do the vortec 454 it’ll just get an oval port manifold and an hei and I...

Engine swap for street and towing

This will be no time soon, just want the information for research and part gathering. I’d like to build my 83 suburban to be decently fun to drive on the street and be able to tow smoothly, as eventually I’d like to get a smaller airstream to take my daughter on trips in. She’s only 2 so there’s...

    207 block?

So I’ve only had my burb about a month and I’m already thinking about engine work, my grandpa has a bunch of old Chevy parts including a 4 bolt 207 block, so my question is, is that block any good to build off of?

    Hello

Welcome from the panhandle! Also new with a burb, little shop mfg makes kits for our trucks, or they have a wilwood version that still fits in 15’s

    Another electrical question

I’m new to the square body scene so I don’t know what a lot about these trucks so I’ll probably be posting a lot. Anyways, as I dig farther into the repairs on my new suburban, I have 2 connectors next to the ashtray, I know the top one is for the back window, which I need to get a new switch...
