    Fix dragging doors. Shims

No, I was more curious if adjusting just the single bolt or just the two bolts does something different at the door hinge connection. Like does the single bolt adjustment do one direction and the two bolts do a different direction, etc?

    Fix dragging doors. Shims

Can you please explain what the single bolt does on each hinge versus the double. Does one move the door in or out and the other up and down or something?

    Fix dragging doors. Shims

I want to replace the striker so it has the plastic on it, which helps the door close better. Guess I could just get some pex, I already have the strikers and too old to return them, figured I’d make use of them .

    Fix dragging doors. Shims

Thanks @Grit dog …I actually got some shims and did this Saturday. Hopefully the horseshoe shims are okay. It seems to have helped some but now I need help getting the hinge side gap to be smaller. I can fit my finger so maybe 1/4” to 1/2” gap. I can see lots of daylight with the door closed...

Driver side door is torn at hinge

I actually bought a replacement for that entire piece but wasn’t able to get the darn thing off to put the new one on! I used some electrical tape which helped on the passenger side but this one is beyond that helping. It’s too misaligned.

Driver side door is torn at hinge

I really do want to learn how to weld but I’m honesty just overwhelmed by all of the choices and opposing opinions. I also don’t really want to deal with having a tank of gas. If y’all can point me in the right direction I would consider it but I’d have little knowledge on assessing my weld quality.

Driver side door is torn at hinge

The door closes like ****, to get it to close where there’s not huge gap with sky coming through, you have to slam it really really hard. The door has some wiggle up and down at the hinges but I will have to watch while someone else does it. I don’t know how to tell if the hinge pins are loose...

Driver side door is torn at hinge

What is the front clip? Is that on the door or fender? Thanks, where did you get the AMD hinges?

Driver side door is torn at hinge

Because I’ve seen and read about people online who did the rebuild only to require new hinges because it didn’t solve the problem. I don’t want to do double the work if after I rebuild them and I have to just replace them altogether…I dunno. Is there a way to know if the hinges themselves are...

Driver side door is torn at hinge

Also for installing new hinges while I’m at this…what are high quality replacements? Should I get the LMC truck ones or is there a specific brand I need to go with. I don’t want to do this again!

Driver side door is torn at hinge

So what’s all this nonsense about needing to take the front fender off to access those bolts? Is that for suburbans or something?

Driver side door is torn at hinge

Found a shop that charges $125/hr and he thinks it should take under an hour. Since I gutted the interior that kick panel is already removed. I’ll see if I can find the disconnects tonight. To get the hinges off, is there any way to do that without removing the fender? Looks like there’s a...

Driver side door is torn at hinge

Yeah exactly and my neighbor is one of those tweakers…. the truck will technically fit in my garage but it’s tight and my daily driver needs to charge in there.

Driver side door is torn at hinge

I don’t have a reference for what is bad shape for a door. I suspect my door is decent enough to keep. What does it cost to have a body shop do something like this? How long also? I don’t have anywhere to really store my truck with the door off.

Driver side door is torn at hinge

I was planning on replacing the driver side door hinges and noticed that the area next to the hinge is torn a good bit. How do I go about getting this repaired since I don’t weld? :( Also, what is the best way to remove a door that has power windows and locks? I have only seen videos with no...

What is this noise after belt change?

Thanks JB, I appreciate your input. I pulled the caliper and pads were trashed. Replaced the caliper(warrantied) and hose. No more noise and no more intermittent pulling to the right. Also rear left wheel doesn’t lock up when I slam on the brakes anymore. It no longer pulls left when I brake...

    Dual tank solenoid valve

I also learned to drive stick before automatic and that’s what I drove for my first 10 years of driving. That could also be part of it feeling more normal to me.

    Mystic interior desirable?

Oh that’s an interesting idea to use metal from a cab. Local would probably work well, there are some metal suppliers I use for work in Kent that would probably be a good option. I do have some other areas around the rocker panels, probably inner and outer…so I may have to order those anyways...

Gotcha, yeah the lines looked really clean. Nice job!

    Dual tank solenoid valve

That all makes sense, thank you for giving me some perspective. I guess when I say more complicated I mean these trucks have quirks and seem to have personalities kinda lol. I did try the start up with just pressing the gas pedal and no brake. Worked the same like you said! I think maybe when I...

    Dual tank solenoid valve

Are you saying that having the bed out of the way makes doing the hardlines easier? Did you swap that valve for the 6 port?

    Dual tank solenoid valve

No I def appreciate it, a lot of this stuff appears simple but can be really complicated for these trucks for certain things and not like modern vehicles. I’ve been really lucky with this truck starting right up. When it’s been sitting overnight I have to push and release the gas pedal and then...

    Brakes won’t bleed, help!!!

The reservoir was empty after changing the lines coming out of it. I can try to bleed the MC using the pedal and crack the fittings on the 2 connected lines. What do you mean bleed the rear line at the combination valve? If you mean to disconnect the hardline that goes to the rear brakes, then...

    Brakes won’t bleed, help!!!

The centering tool only helps you prior to tripping the valve though right? Not after? I’d really like to take the valve off and look at it up close and be able to see the inside better. I’ll have to invest the $5-10 for the future. Add this to the list of lessons learned.

    Brakes won’t bleed, help!!!

That’s exactly what we did. I have never bled brakes for pretty much an entire day before. I’m just grateful that I was able to get it out of the garage and into the street without needing a tow truck. Once the front were bled I didn’t reattempt the rear. Will probably wait until I do the rears...
