Stolen truck found after 30 years

I hate to say it but in your situation doing an LS Swap doesn't sound like that bad of an idea. Surely someone in that area would be able to do that for you. I would think it would be possible to find some of the "original" new parts, maybe even all of them. But that might be more difficult...

Looks like bad news for me

I think you and your meter may need a little instruction. I hope I am not insulting you, but what you are telling us makes no sense. First, as others have already said, with your "fuse" out there should be 12 volts to ground on one side of the fuse holder and no voltage on the other side...

    Front end dress up.

I dated a redhead. Once. Only been married for 126 years but I feel you and hear what you are saying. My roommate (wife) doesn't really care much about what I do or don't do with The '87. She just likes it when she rides in it and we get a lot of looks and attention. I tell her it's...

Just for fun, you should Establish Male Dominance and tell her NO. Just casually say, "I forbid you to do that". Doesn't matter if you want the modification or not. And then post back here letting us know how it worked out for you...

    MAP Sensor

On my '87 I gradually replaced every electronic component I could simply because everything was original to 1987. I place little confidence in the "Butt Dyno" but honestly felt that everything I replaced made a slight but noticeable difference in how it ran. The MAP sensor just seemed like a...

    Knock Sensor

I kind of feel like if it ain't broke and it ain't part of regular maintenance...don't mess with it. I was worried mine was going to be difficult to remove but it was not as bad as I expected. Not a difficult job but you are going to get coolant on yourself when/if you remove it.

When should I change the stock front leafs?

I will have to RESPECTFULLY disagree about the ride quality. I have Skyjacker Softride leaf springs on the front of mine and I would argue that it rides significantly better than any of the 4wd Square Body trucks of my youth. Those negatively arched front springs don't have a lot of travel...

When should I change the stock front leafs?

There are so many different opinions here but truly YOUR opinion is the only one that matters. Your truck looks really good to me. There is something special about a stock, all original vehicle that is almost 40 years old. I knew I wanted mine to look like it would have looked if I had...

87 TBI oil pressure sender wire

I would have to look at the switch wiring on my truck later but I am not sure the Switch wire is the same color as the Sender wire. The Sender for the gauge is underneath the engine close to the oil filter. The Switch is at the back of the intake manifold underneath the distributor.

Wanted: Factory step bumper for 1987 fleetside

I cannot say that ALL of these trucks came with added on bumpers but a great many of them had the rear bumpers installed by the dealership. The painted ones frequently had the dealership name stenciled into them. There are some decent aftermarket replacements available. The Westin brand...

    Front end dress up.

I added the "bumper fangs" to my '87 and they cost more than an entire new chrome bumper from LMC. I think they look very good on your truck. I was undecided but my son really, really liked them and wanted them on our truck. I am very glad I did it. You made a much better deal, $50 for those...

The link you have in that post that sold for $27K is for a short bed that is actually a very desirable truck.

    TX87R10 rendered this thread useless

In My Opininon (which is nearly worthless) the only thing you "Did Wrong" was to sell the truck. I think you should have done whatever you wanted to do to it to make it your own and kept it. But I liked seeing it in your avatar and I like the truck for what it was and the memories of the 1980s...

    TX87R10 rendered this thread useless

I think it would take a lot to make a 2WD Long Bed bring big money. Again, I love those trucks but that is not what the market is looking for, at least not right now. I have seen some pretty spectacular 2WD Long Beds on BAT that didn't bring significant money. Being realistic here...If you...

    TX87R10 rendered this thread useless

@TX87R10 I actually like your truck, I think it's a great truck and I wasn't criticizing the truck. I was answering the question and giving you honest feedback on why it didn't bring more money. The funniest part of the negatives is "2wd Long Bed". The fact is that the 2wd long beds were the...

    TX87R10 rendered this thread useless

The whole "what's my truck worth" thing stresses me and confuses me. Geography plays a big part, the quality of the vehicle even more so. I sure don't want to hurt anyone's feelings about their vehicle but let's do an honest evaluation here. And before anyone does get their feelings hurt...

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

Careful my friend. If you keep Telling The Truth the full wrath of the Diesel Mafia will fall upon you. Let's go over this again. "I got 18 mpg pulling my 10,000 pound trailer at 80 mph". You cannot let Truth and Facts interfere with a diesel mpg story. It's literally against the law.

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

For my 120 mile drive from home to the Mississippi Gulf Coast I got 12.5 mpg based on the odometer reading. I know the odometer is no longer "accurate" because of the larger tires so if I had set the GPS it probably would have been a little over 13 mpg. I had hoped to do a little better than...
