The saga continues... Cluster feed fuse

Didn't transfer anything between the two. Haven't touched it again. Now it's developed an off idle stumble that wasn't there

The saga continues... Cluster feed fuse

Had it laying face down on the colum so nothing was touching the back.

The saga continues... Cluster feed fuse

Have now replaced ignition switch and the wiring that runs through the colum for turn signals and what not. Soon as gauge cluster gets plugged in and keys is turned on cluster feed fuse blows. If the gauge cluster is not plugged in the fuse doesn't blow. This is the second gauge cluster. Other...

The saga continues... Cluster feed fuse

Chased wiring, pulled entire wiring harness in search of shorts. Found none. The pink wire ends up giving my HEI distributer power. Pink wire also runs to the ignition switch. Cluster feed fuse blows as soon as gauge cluster is plugged in and turn of the key. Pink wire is for cluster feed and...

Gauge cluster, tail lights and gas gauge problems

All I've done is some how make it worse... If headlights are on turn signals don't work. Turn off headlights flashers work. Blower motor doesn't work now As well. As soon as power is put to gauge cluster it blows the cluster feed fuse. Ive tried multiple headlight switchs and this is the 2nd...

Gauge cluster, tail lights and gas gauge problems

Left it for the night. Didnt want to be disappointed. This was my last ditch effort. Already pricing out universal wiring harness because $600 to $700 is far too much. How many circuits does the truck really need is what im down to.

Gauge cluster, tail lights and gas gauge problems

So update... I pulled the fuse block and in cab harness completely out and dug through it. No shorts, gray dash feed wire was tied into all lights in the dash. Also all grounds were tied into one small 16 gauge wire. Made it where the dash feed wire only go to the gauges. Also made multiple...

    Calling the Holley carb experts

Started with a Qjet... Couldn't keep a tune and got tired of rebuilding it. I have a regulated return system. Ive had the carb apart. Sprayed out jets and inspected for any debris. Had a 600 cfm Edelbrock and that was fine on road. Any bump off road or downhill or uphill off road and the carb...

Hows the idle speed increased after that? If I screw it to where the transfer slots are closed it won't idle. Idle mixture screws don't bring the idle up... Unless they are supposed to. Running manifold vaccum to the vac advance

1.25 turns out. Under load is fine. Seems to have good power. No stumbles. I haven't looked to see if fuels dribbling or doing anything funny

Gauge cluster, tail lights and gas gauge problems

Had wiring from both sides all joined so no matter where the switch is it will read a level. Have a new gauge on the way. Spendy

    Calling the Holley carb experts

It loads up at idle... Blue smoke. Plugs have been changed 3 times. Twice they were wet and dripping. I assume the messed up choke cable was the culprit on that. Ngk xr4s are in now due to the camel hump heads. Was running ngk yr5s. They are black and sooty. I can get a list tomorrow. The carb...

It's got a 6.5 in it. That test for the power valve is to screw the idle mixtures screw in while running. If it dies its not blown. It dies and havent had any backfires

Gauge cluster, tail lights and gas gauge problems

Was dual now has a single Suburban tank in the rear. Took the gauge out of the cluster. No matter where the needle was the resistance didn't change. It's fun to chase multiple issues

Gauge cluster, tail lights and gas gauge problems

Found the front turn signal on passenger side full of water... Emptied and the problem was fixed with the tail lights. Found a grounded out spot in the pink fuel gauge wire. Gas gauge still doesn't work. Is there a way to test the gauge itself?

Gauge cluster, tail lights and gas gauge problems

Didn't find any shorts. That orange wire goes to multiple fuses. Now all running lights come on when battery of truck is connected... Even without the headlight switch being plugged in
