    Paint preparation

I’m getting old and my hands aren’t what they used to be. I’m just dinking around, wanting to paint some parts, but I don’t have the hand strength to wire brush them clean anymore. I can use the orbital sander for smooth parts, but does anybody have any suggestions for odd shaped parts, like...

    ATF capacity

1986 GMC K1500 NP 208 There’s seems to be some great debate over the fluid level. I have read: - 2.5 quarts/5 pints - 10 pints/5 quarts - fill till spill My Chilton manual says 10 pints. My Haynes manual says Fill until pours out. ‍♂️

    Flip up wipers arms?

Our square body wipers don’t flip up so you can clean the windshield. You can only raise them a few inches WHILE you are cleaning the windshield or removing snow/ice. Anyone know if there are alternative (or aftermarket) wiper arms that will fit, which flup up and stay up until you put em...

    Steering stabilizer

1986 GMC K1500 Are there different steering stabilizer bars? My steering stabilizer was bent and i had someone replace it with one off of a suburban, but then my stabilizer shock didn’t fit. Can I just buy a different shock or do I need a different stabilizer bar?

    1986 GMC K1500 w/305” on 700r4. (292” swap)

Has anyone put a 292” on a 700r4? How did you solve the TV cable issue? Does it need a different torque converter? Any other issues &/or suggestions?

    1986 700R4 leaking

The pan was leaking, so i replaced the pan gasket, but apparently it had more than one leak. It is now leaking a lot less, but it is definitely leaking out of the torque converter cover. What are the possible leak pionts at/near the torque converter …& can such a leak/seal be...

    Runs out of fuel…

Is there a way to even install the fuel pump and completely miss the rod? I have A fuel line directly from a gas can into the pump. I have a fuel line directly from the steel line (disconnected from the carburetor). zero pressure and zero fuel. No leaks… i’m beginning to think I’m simply...

    Runs out of fuel…

Do you mean, bypass the gas tank, in-line fuel filter & fuel lines, & draw fuel directly from a gas can into the pump? i’m guessing you’re suspecting a fuel line blockage? Ok… I’ll try that. The 2 hard fuel lines happen to be the ONLY thing that hasn’t been replaced or rebuilt.

    Runs out of fuel…

Removed hard fuel line from fuel pump. Removed fuel pump. Made a homemade remote starter switch from an old dwell meter & a 20amp button i had. With ignition switch off, cranked engine. It’s difficult for me to measure accurately, but feels like maybe 1/2 inch-ish.

    Runs out of fuel…

Unless I’ve gotten three bad fuel pumps in a row, I can’t find anybody that has an alternate explanation.

    Runs out of fuel…

I’ll look into the filter. Does the one you suggested have a check valve or do I need one of those additionally? …and speaking of check valves, I can’t find one of those little green check valve that goes in the distributor vacuum line. i’m not sure if check valve is the right term. I think...

    Runs out of fuel…

Summit sells the same Holley Red pump, for $25. less, but it takes weeks for me to get anything from Summit, up here. Having it tomorrow is worth the extra $25. Everything else Summit sells has too much pressure. I have a Ford starter relay, installed by the previous (tweaker) owner, that he...

    Runs out of fuel…

At the local auto parts store, I can get a Holly Red (7 lb) $170. or a Edelbrock (4 lb - 7 lb) $80. I hear good things about the Holly Red, except that they’re noisy. I don’t think either one comes with a regulator. And I’m also not sure about whether they have check valves.

    Runs out of fuel…

Fuel volume test done. 30 seconds of cranking just to get fuel out of the hose. Once fuel was flowing, cranked for another 30 seconds & barely any fuel at all..! I would say less than 1/2 ounce. …and it damn near killed my battery.

    Runs out of fuel…

After all the tests are done, and assuming you are right, I assume the only fix is a new cam or an electric fuel pump?

    Runs out of fuel…

I started to do the fuel volume test. I disconnected the steel fuel line from the carburetor & clamped a fuel hose to it. With ignition switched off, I cranked it for about 10 seconds before I noticed 2 problems, already. 1) there was no fuel coming out, so I suppose it may be bleeding back...

    Runs out of fuel…

It is against my apartment rental lease to work on a vehicle in the parking lot. what about that doesn’t make sense to you? And what does Alaska have to do with it not making sense?

    Runs out of fuel…

I can only work on it on the weekends. working on vehicles is a lease violation where I live. The manager lives 80 miles away and doesn’t come around on the weekends, so I chance it when the week is over. Fuel pressure and volume test is next. I just have to wait till Saturday.
