    Whine after torque converter install

Do you believe this could cause either of these sounds? How should I shim it to even them out? It is not thick enough for 1/16” washer

    Whine after torque converter install

Another update... took the bolts out again and was looking at everything and came across this. The mounting pads are not even. Notice the first two pads have space then the third one scrapes. Is this abnormal and would it cause the whine? How could I space it to even it out. It’s maybe 1/32 to...

    Whine after torque converter install

Update. I got longer bolts as suggested and put two washers in to put total spacing at 1/8”. The sound is still there but I’d say it’s at 1/4 the volume as before. I can no longer hear it standing beside the truck. I have to get under the truck to hear it. Here is a video showing the tc and the...

    Whine after torque converter install

I’m saying it needs to go towards pump more when bolted up. Most places I’ve seen specify 1/16” to 3/16” gap with the standard being 1/8”. You said earlier that you think it is a rub. Where and how would I check for this? We’re could it possibly be rubbing at?

    Whine after torque converter install

Sooo here’s the update so far... I pulled the inspection cover and the tc bolts were tight. However, I used the wrong drill bit to measure the spacing and it is actually right over 1/4” ... maybe 1/32 or 1/64 over. I believe this is too much of a gap (any input on this?) I’m headed to the store...

As in taking out the trans?

    Whine after torque converter install

Yes. Around 1qt. Then put around 6 more in before driving. Sounded like a pump to me too... but like I said, I do not know much about transmissions. Where do I go from here if my bolts are tight?

    Whine after torque converter install

I will for sure check it this afternoon. Sounds more like rubbing than something with my pump? I have no experience with transmissions.

    Whine after torque converter install

1985 Chevy c10. 350 engine with th350c transmission. I installed a torque converter on my th350c transmission. Install went well and everything bolted up fine. 3/16” gap between tc and flexplate before bolting up and the tc spun freely before bolting up. Filled up trans fluid after install and...

    Mode door operating backwards

Thanks for the info. I have tried pulling the hvac control unit out to check the vacuum distributor part but it is so tight I can’t pull it out from the dash enough to check it. I must be missing something.

    Mode door operating backwards

Exactly and from the video, you can see that heat and defrost are pushed to the front vents. This is my problem. The hot/cold wire control works fine.

    Mode door operating backwards

Wouldn’t the big door be open for heat/defrost? The defrost/floor vents are behind that door and are blocked off when the door is closed.

    Mode door operating backwards

The door moves though, meaning the actuator works, right?

    Mode door operating backwards

85 c10. My hvac mode door seems to be operating backwards. For ac modes and vent, the mode door flows the air for the floor/defrost side. For off/heat/defrost, it goes directs air to the dash vents. It seems if it was a lack of vac, the door wouldn’t operate at all. What do I need to check on...
