    Heater Control Cables

It is a simple swap. Just get the entire heat only system and it just bolts in. When I got mine, I left the heater controls attached to the inside heater box. No losing parts. Then just pull the fan box from the engine compartment with the wiring and you are golden. A couple of suggestions...

    Heater Control Cables

Here is the non ac setup I have. If you are going to use the a.c. panel and inside box, you're will be significantly different. I believe they are controlled by vacuum lines. There were a couple of recent threads on them I will try to find and post a link. The top control cable controls the...

How much weight will a 1/2 ton really handle?

While many of us have done it, this is one of those "just because you can doesn't mean you should" things. Liability wise, huge amounts of bad juju possible.

    Heater Control Cables

I can post some tomorrow if no one does before then. My 83 was originally ac, but it was gutted. I just got a complete assembly from a 73 (control panel, cables, inside airbox assembly all connected, and the fan and metal housing from the engine compartment) and it bolted in easily.

    Fuel leak

Just a guess, but that is generally where an electric choke would be on a carb. So the wire could have been from a prior carb with an electric choke. On the leak, hard to tell, but makes sense and a fuel line is easy to replace. May want to look for a steel replacement for peace of mind .

Rebuild an engine in the truck

the John Deere guys trick for freeing up a seized engine is to adapt a spark plug to take a grease zerk fitting, thread it into one of the cylinders with all the others removed. Hook up a grease gun and let hydraulics do the work.

What have you done to your square lately??

Purists won't like it, but my factory gauges were either unreliable or didn't work at all. Replaced them with mechanical oil and water gauges, voltmeter, and tach. Also replaced the Speedo cable that lasted two days after getting the truck on the road. My fault, melted against the exhaust...

    Fuel Gauge

If it rests last full, at 3 o'clock, it usually means you have an open circuit. Generally a broken or disconnected wire, or broken sending unit connection, as some mentioned before.

    Ignition issue, no spark

I lost my hei coil last month. Worked fine , then ten minutes later, nothing. Put on a spare cap and fired right up. If you don't already have one, I would pick up an in-line spark tester. Easy way to confirm spark.

    Seat Swap

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in, but I know you have to remember that the square has a raised section under the seat. So look at the overall height of the seat cushion of the seats you are looking at.

How does the oil gauge function? Mine is pegged to the right

There is an electrical sending unit below the distributor. Make sure the wire is plugged in.

    Electric issues

Are you just seeing the flux at idle? If so,not uncommon as the regulator doesn't always let the alternator kick in until a bit above idle.

New to Square body.. electrical nightmare...

Mine was hacked during a diesel to gas conversion. I ended up going to a salvage yard and pulled a clean one from a similar truck. Plug and play.

    Hard brake pedal manual brakes.

Do the front wheels turn? If the brakes are locked up, it's not u common for the flex lines running from the frame to the calipers to leak internally, between the layers of rubber. It results in the the line working like a check valve, allowing it to pressurize, but not release immediately...

1977 chevy c20 hood latch problem

I would try making the latch lock manually (by hand, not with the hood pin), to see if it will lock in the closed position. Could be as simple as the release handle partially pulled out. If it latches when empty, open the latch again and maybe try adjusting the lock pin up incrementally.

    Oil Pressure Question

Mine has the same set up and it's all over the board. Anywhere from 5-50. Probably going to put in mechanical gauges myself. I would at least put a mechanical gauge on it temporarily at least to confirm if your factory one is working properly.

What have you done to your square lately??

No, I didn't put anything in and really don't plan to. The supply air is coming from inside the cab, so I don't see the point.

What have you done to your square lately??

No, I didn't take any pics, but I just cut a hole about 3" wide x5" tall, basically behind the fan housing at the resistor.

    Oil Pressure Question

What are you using for a gauge, factory? If so, I would put a mechanical gauge on it to confirm that the readings are correct.

What have you done to your square lately??

Fixed my heater. AC cab originally, but swapped in a regular heater box, both inner and outer. Could hear the fan running, but virtually no airflow. Finally determined that when I made my blockoff plate for the ac hole, I needed to cut a new hole in the firewall so the new box could breathe...
