Replacing rubber brake lines, i'm about to lose it

I had my engine out and front end off the truck for 2 weeks. If I'd had a brain, I woulda replaced those hoses while I could just stand in the bay and do it. But..................NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    Front brake hoses

IN THEORY,11X2 Rear brakes , JB3, would have front rotors 1" thick. My 84 C10 was not this way, and it gave me fits..... It had JB3 rears and JB5 fronts (!-1/8" thick rotors) and JB5 booster. Best to measure the front rotor thickness to determine brake hoses....

    Best Front-end Rebuild Kits

Control arm bushings, if installed and preloaded properly, should not squeak. No surfaces in that assembly should see any relative movement, so I have read. The suspension travel is supposed to occur entirely by flexing of the rubber or polymer insert. That is why it is important to torque the...

Now that I look back, it was another forum which censored my posts if they contained names of online suppliers. For the record, the bushings I purchased from LMC were WAY oversized.....Sent bacl for full refund, including freight both ways. I bought my MOOG parts from Amazon at great prices...

    Best Front-end Rebuild Kits

Shop wherever you are comfortable. I have used several and found then to be reputable.(I am not permitted to name names on this forum.) Look up your part numbers, MOOG or otherwise, and shop around. There are substantial savings to be had online. I have found them to readily accept returns for...

    Best Front-end Rebuild Kits

You will need to separate the ball joints/spindles in order to replace control arm bushings. That may result in damaging the grease boots on the ball joints. Ball joints don't cost much, so.............. Just remember to torque the bushing nuts with vehicle's weight on the suspension.

    Best Front-end Rebuild Kits

I went with Moog for all the stuff for my '84 C10. I had gone with parts from a popular Truck Parts catalog but found the control arm bushings to be as much as .040" oversize on I.D, so I returned all their stuff and ordered Moog. Control arm bushings, Tie rod ends and couplers, Ball joints...

    Control Arm Bushing Installation

I took a 1x4 piece of red oak cut to length to fit between the outer flange, then cut 2 grooves across the face in the locations of the inner webs. In so doing, I held each channel open as well as maintained the overall width.......

    Control Arm Bushing Installation

Didn't have to.....it got down to 28° when I pressed 'em in... and a spacer to keep the control arm sides from moving helped too! Moral of the story is, this is a job for the dead of winter.........

    Control Arm Bushing Installation

I have a set of sleeves supposedly for the job. I have sleeves which contact the bushing flanges immediately outside of the rubber insert flange. Yet the flanges deflect when the press is used. I must be doing something wrong....

    Control Arm Bushing Installation

I thought having a hydraulic press would solve all my problems. Maybe it would if I knew how to properly use it. Even using the (so I thought) proper size sleeves I wind up bending the flanges and causing more problems than I am solving. How the heck do you press, or pound upper and lower...

Is this the third row seat some are using (picture)

i think you will find that it is quite a bit shorter than your original. But, I am interested to know how it works out, as I am considering a new swat for my 84cC10

    Lower Control Arm Bushing Fit

That is a question for more technical minds than mine..........but, I guess it does!

    Lower Control Arm Bushing Fit

The design is for the shaft NOT to rotate in the bushing. The shaft is s'posed to lock the bushing center sleeve tightly, having all movement coming from within the elastomer. That is why the shaft nuts are supposed to be torqued with weight on the suspension.

    Lower Control Arm Bushing Fit

I guess that nothing is easy anymore. The K6137 Moog bushings were ordered from Amazon, but shipped from 2 different sources. One box is just labeled "Moog" Those bushings measured 1.006" and 1.012" I.D. The other was in a box labeled "Moog Problem Solver." Those measured 1.030"...

Question about pulling to left while braking.

That procedure is in the conventional order;however, if your truck is like mine, the junction block on the diff is actually on the right side of the banjo. This means that the left rear brake line is actually the longest and should be bled first. Something I have learned on this forum!

    83 Chevy breaks 2in or 2 3/4in shoes

I had quite an involved go-round with the brakes on my '84 C10. The truck had 1 1/4" rotors but 2" rear shoes. That dog wouldn't hunt............the rears would always skid before the fronts would engage. Tried EVERYTHING....literally........... ONLY thing to cure the problem was changing rear...

    Lower Control Arm Bushing Fit

I believe that to be the case with the upper for sure. I contacted Moog for dimensions on both upper and lower bushings, and their dimensions are much tighter than those of the LMC supplied parts. The upper bushings are way too large also. The Moog bush is .752" and the LMC measures .760" for a...

    Lower Control Arm Bushing Fit

Now that we are getting some cooler weather, time to get to work on mt 84 C10. Suspension rebuilding is next on the list. I have removed the left side arms and bushings. I have found that the lower bushings are nothing close to a snug fit to the cross shaft. Is this normal??? The shafts measure...
