Can i drive 14 bolt without carrier?

Agree!!!!! I have done three 14 bolts in the drive way and I always check the gear pattern with piant before I put the cover back on and all three have been spot on even after removing the ring gear.:cheers::cheers:

    What to do???

If you want to run 38's on a 10 or 12 wide wheel with a 6" lift you will be re-shaping your front fenders off road,(and sometimes on road) . I have 35"s on 10 wide wheels with a 6" and off road it sometimes touches the fenders. You might get by with 8" wide wheels and 37"s with the zero rates...

Can i drive 14 bolt without carrier?

Full float 14 bolts have adjustment collars on the sides for the carrier , so mark everything , count the turns that you back off the collars on each side , split the carrier and install your locker and reassemble , done deal. If you are worried about it you can get some paint and check the...

Lift suggestions. shackle flip rear, front?

agree ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. Do your shackle flip in the back , grab some 4" springs for the front , extend your brake lines , get a steering arm and you will be lifted and happy. :happy160::happy160::happy160:

    Whats Gears Should i Run

If your 383 build is full tilt and you get your set up to hook your 10 bolt wont be long for this world , imo. If you are in it to win it with a bad boy motor and trans. I would find a 12 bolt and put your money into that and scrap the 10 bolt. If you just spin the tires everywhere your 10...

    Lockers

I live in a big snow area and when I used to drive my 77 daily I would lock my hubs in nov. and unlock them in may , drove on the hwy. at 65 quite often as well with no problems.

    Engine build

A 383 is were its at for torque , if you want to spend the extra dollar's. The secret is heads for power. After market is the way to go but costly. I have a 350 in a 78 that has 1970 202 heads (mildly ported) with acc. holes and a comp 270 magnum hyd. roller cam in it with flat top forged...

    4wd ball joint replacement questions

The steering arm has locking cones that can be a bitch , you have to hit downward on the arm to get them free , not upward. I also soak them in pb blaster before I even try.

    4wd ball joint replacement questions

You should be able to get a spindle at a wrecking yard. You need to be careful when you press out the top ball joint on the side with the steering arm , my press kit hit the steering arm a little bit so it would not sit flat on the ball joint so I had to dremal a little of the arm to get it in...

    Jet stage 2 quadrajet

I would not run an edelbrock carb on my golf cart , but thats just me. I love holley's , (have them on most of my rides) but here in cali you cant get by the sniffer test with either a holley or an eddie so if you dont want to change carbs all the time a q-jet is the way to go and they work...

    Bushings, shocks etc.

Another thing is on my blazer I have a reid racing knuckle on the passenger side , (much stonger than stock) not a bad up grade if you wheel a lot. I also have the stock early model knuckle on the divers side so I have my tie rod on top . On your truck if you want to up grade you have to order...

    Jet stage 2 quadrajet

I have a stage 2 on my 78 and love it . It's a .030 over 350 , steel crank , 9.8 to 1 forged piston's , 270 comp magnum hyd. retro fit roller cam , 202 heads with roller rocker's , mildly ported , header's , eddie air gap intake , msd ignition. So if your motor is pumped up it's a great carb...

    Bushings, shocks etc.

Used springs are hard to tell what they are , just get some caliper's and size up the eyes as well as the bolt size you need and call energy or prothane bushings. Cross over steering is the way to go , but you do not have to. You can run a 6" steering arm with a 2" drop pitman arm on the box...

    Bad ball joint help

Clunking sound could be a lot of things.Jack up the front axle and set it back down on jack stands with the tires off the ground. Then grab a buddy and have him or her grab your tire at the top and bottom then rock the tire while you watch the ball joints. If you see them move they need...

    8" Lift Questions

Simple , all I did is grab some solid 1" blocks and longer center pins and u-bolts and throw it all together and you have a 9" lift. Make sure you check out all your other stuff , driveshafts , shocks , brake lines etc... and make sure they are good to go.As far as running 38's that all depends...

    4" lift 33's or 35's?

That truck has 12" wide wheels on it , (look at the tire bulged out) and with a 4" lift with 35's with 12 wide's they will hit for sure. You can get wheels in all different off sets but if you stay with a 4" back space (lets say) an 8" wide has 4" out , a 10" wide has 6" out and a 12" wide has 8"...

Anyone running a lift with a snow plow?

I ran my 78 with 4" rancho springs and 33 12.50's for years with no problems with a western blade on it.All you have to do is raise the holes where the pins go that hook the blades frame to the truck and beef them out ,(took me about 2 hours) with some steel and a welder and I left the frame...

    Cracked frame

V the crack out with a grinder and weld it , then get the ord frame brace kit and put it on. Or they sell a plate kit that looks like crap , (IMO) , but it works and the other thing I have done is box the frame on the back side with sleeves between the outer frame rail and the inner frame rail...
