    New truck old suspension

All the lifted square's I have owned I have ditched the sway bars on them all together and you are good to go. Man , I would run an 8" on your burb , those things are long and they look hot with an 8" lift no matter what size tire you run. You will want to check your rear leafs on your...

    Small block 400

Double hump heads were great back in the day , but if you are going the iron head route the vortec's are better , imo. My girl's truck has a .030 over , 9.8 to 1 , 270 roller cammed 350 , with worked over 202 double hump heads on it and it hauls ass , but it's a little soft out the hole. We...

    New truck old suspension

For light off rod use I would get some skyjacker soft ride 8" springs , ( much more arched springs like 10's and up ride like shit) and pull the center pins and get new ones then get a 1" block , then run the center pin through the block and the leaf pack and you have a 9" with a good ride. You...

    Small block 400

I know you are not a fan of 400's , ( I dig them) but anyway my brother was building his quench 383 at the same time as I was building my 407 with 5.7 rods , (same machine shop) , ( both quench motor's) , he ran trick flow heads and mine were afr 180's. He had a .039 quench and mine was .040 ...

    Small block 400

Back to the original poster , linville33 , everybody has there star motor build thats the best so you will get all kinds of info. but its very simple really. For the most part , bigger cubes , easier to make torque. figure out your stack compared to deck height , crank throw cut in half ...

    Small block 400

I am not bashing vortec heads at all , but I think they have a intake runner of 170cc and the afr's I ran were 180cc with bigger valves , (202's) and we are talking 400 sbc which draws about 15% more air than a 350 at any rpm range so the 180cc heads work really nice for torque on the bigger...

    Small block 400

Well thats why I added in vortec heads if you want to save some $$$. But if you compare , vortec's new , about 630.00 , afr's 1600.00 , blueprint's 1000.00 , trickflow's 1200.00 So you have to save up another 500 to 1000 dollar's for good heads and then you can run higher cylinder pressure...

    Small block 400

There is lots of things to think about here first , tire size , gears , what are you going to do with the truck , etc...... but I will just tell you my set up (mean) 77 1/2 ton , 4.56 geared 8 lugs , turbo 400/205 , 38 inch ground hawgs. 407 smallblock scat crank , cast steel...

    Small block 400

The 400 head's have steam hole's so you can use any smallblock head on a 400 but they have to be drilled and you must use 400 head gasket's.

    Small block 400

My old yellow 77 I built a 400 sbc , quench motor , 9.8 to 1 , comp cam , afr heads and out of all the trucks I have had with pumped up 350's , this 400 blew them all out of the water. If it were me I would be thinking D dish pistons , square decked block and bad boy heads , and if you want...

    k10+?=Sand Truck?

For the sand light as possible as much horsepower and torque as possible really wide wheels and tires then you will go anywhere and have fun doing it in the sand. Swap out wheels and tires and head for the mud , snow , and rocks as long as your motor is not to crazy.

    Death Wobble

10 4 Thanks for the info. My fun countries are old , could be the case but they do so good in the sand and deep snow I cant let them go , (have 2 full sets) and they dont make the big boy kevlar's anymore , bummer. Thats why I got the toyo's so my wife and I can go out in the sticks and not...

    Death Wobble

Good write up , I had the deathwobble , (we call it the super swamper shakearound here) in my 77 crew cab , 10 inch lift with a 3 inch body and 44 inch super swampers. It has all new parts in the front end and still had the death wobble. So I took out the 4 deg. shims in the front and put in 2...

    4" Lift Inquisition

#1 no , to short even a small transition the shock will go to full extension and break itself or your mounts. #2 dont know about 2 wheel drive but all you have to do is make a small L braket and pull the stock metal lines out of the frame rail and put them under the rail with your L braket ...

    4inch with 35s

You should be ok with 8 wides and 35's with that off set at -5mm , (4.30 inches back) . Your rear should be a 14 bolt corp , ff and the front a dana 44 if its all stock with 4.11 gears , (very few 4.56's out there stock). Just run a 6" and be done with it , crew cabs are so long they dont...

    holley truck avenger Qs

I have ran a ton of holley's on performance cars and trucks and have had great luck with them. Every eddie I have had I have thrown in the trash.Holley is a way better carb.imo. I have never used a truck one though only the 4160 and 4165 series and if set up right work great off road. Now...

pro maxx sbc aluminum 200cc heads for my 350

If you truly have a 292 cam , you are way over cammed , that's why its a dog. With a cam like that you will have very low cylinder pressure in a stock motor = no low end power. If you have stock heads on it now they are problably 72cc the pro maxx heads are 64cc so it will bump the compression...

K10 needs some beefing up help!!!!

Dana 44 and 10 bolt corp. pretty much the same front end , just find an 8 lug one and bolt it up or convert your's to 8 lug , backing plate's out. I would only run spicer axle joints as well.

Post your experiences buying auto parts from summit racing and other places

I have had good luck with rockauto , summit , jegs , ord , but I have had the worst luck with 4wheel parts. They never have anything in their store , ever and they wont tell you up front unless you ask that your tires will take 6 months to get and when you go into the reno store the counter...

K10 needs some beefing up help!!!!

Very true , it's not if it will crack it's when , I have the ord kit on the blazer and its's been good so far. Cross over steering as well. Oh I have a 10 bolt in the blazer , (same difference) , I had to clear that up before someone nailed me on that , but I have had a ton of 44's

K10 needs some beefing up help!!!!

Dana 60 , 14 bolt full float , 4.56 or lower gears.I have dana 44s in the front of most of the trucks I have had with no problems other than axle joints for mudding. Now days they make bad ass axle's and joints that are way better. The only down fall to the 60 is its a boat anchor in the mud...

    Best carpet

Yep , stock interiors , got mine for my blazer from them and did the padding up grade and it fit sweet with little trimming. It came in a acc box and was cheaper than any other place I found. I would order from them again as well.

    quad shock brackets

I have had them both ways , on my old 78 I had the trailmaster side by side upper mount , stock lower , (dont know if they make that mount anymore) and I dont recall bending the lower mount with that set up. On my 77 crew I have the factory dual shock mount (staggered) with the stock lower...
