What is your daily if not square body?

Go ahead and laugh, but since I broke the crank in big blue, here is my current daily, 96 Metro 3cyl, 5 speed. I've got $1400 total invested in it with rebuilt motor and trans, drive it through everything nasty every day and still get 43mpg with it...if i'm nice on normal highway at 60 I get...

What new tools have you got lately?

Since all my tool boxes are at the shop I rent now, I have nothing at home for the tools I have there. Got tired of searching everywhere for tools every time I do something, so found me another service cart to fit the bill. Got it at harbor freight this weekend with an Inside Track coupon and...

Worn Rear Shock Mounting Hole (Slotted)

Another thing you can do if you can weld and have a welder is get a piece of brass round stock the same size as the hole is supposed to be, stick it in the hole and weld around it. Weld doesn't stick to the brass, so just push it out when your done and clean up with a grinder.

What new tools have you got lately?

They work okay for average things, if you've never used thermal imaging much, read up on the emissivity settings. It sort of like how reflective the surface you are scanning is. Most of the cheaper (under $2k) imagers will also pick up heat your heat signature with light behind you so, will...

What new tools have you got lately?

Use denatured alcohol, I use it at work on tools and operator consoles covered in pitch, removes everything really well, just doesn't damage the plastic like the brake clean does.

What new tools have you got lately?

When I was a kid, my mom used to carve them out of a piece of birch branch, coat them in stain and then hand them to dad every time he started to balk at the honey-do list, lol. Sort of looked like this... round-tuit image: http://cf.ydcdn.net/latest/images/dictionaries/Wiktionary-logo.png...

    A Thread about Dodges

I figured it could lean towards a trash talk page for Dodge, don't want Dodge getting jealous of Ford with theirs, lol. I happen to have Square bodies, Ford high boy, Dodge, gas and diesel now, so my trash talk tends to rotate through which rig broke and left me stranded this time...I believe in...

    A Thread about Dodges

I've had a few Dodges, '99 2500 quad cab for instance, loved the motor, hated everything else about the truck. Missed opportunity when I was 16 to pick up a '73 Cuda, still mad at my dad for blocking that one. Can't even look at a basic roller for 10k now :(. Just picked up a 2005 3500 short...

What have you done to your square lately??

Stared wistfully at my 86 sitting behind a 4' snow bank in my yard waiting till summer when I can trailer it out my road to my shop and do a crank swap. :(

Failed experiment, back to another diesel

Down side is the same steering problems in the future, but I did find that Synergy mfg makes an upgrade to the "T" style steering of the 09 and up trucks with upgraded Tie rod ends that will not rotate like stock on the main connecting bar, to the tune of $750. Fortunately, steering is awesome...

Failed experiment, back to another diesel

Well, a few years ago, I got rid of my 99 Dodge 2500 cummins 4x4, hatted the ride and the front suspension fell apart every two years. Went back to gas and picked up two square bodies with the goal of making my 86 be my universal do everything truck. Two years now, and just not working for me...

Best Set-up for plowing, Dream rig

The only reason I prefer a 1 ton (suspension at least) for plowing is the weight of the plow makes the springs sag after awhile. One of the reasons I never put a plow on my 99 dodge cummins was there was so much weight up front already and I rotated through suspension parts at least every 4...

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Eyeballed this, hate it when people don't list a price. Sort of interested, usually no price list means "more than it's worth, it's rare!" https://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/d/1984-chevy-5/6433269750.html Also has this...

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

I used to wrap my headers, but quit doing it for several reasons. First, header wrap will absorb stuff, mainly oil, that combined with the fact that I have never fully achieved a leak free motor in anything, created an oil fire waiting to happen. Second, most of my headers were always...

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Lol, pretty much. Death wedge to me since at 6'5" sitting in the damn thing means using a pry bar to get back out. A buddy and I did a fiat x19 conversion to a K20A motor 12 years ago, was really interesting on all the crap needed to fit it in there, but dang could that thing fly when it was...

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Man, good thing I'm putting money away for my truck engine right now... always wanted to do a conversion like this ever since I had a GT fiero, was really tempted to rob the house addition piggy bank and buy this, lol. (Wouldn't survive long as soon as my wife found out and shot me dead)...

Has anyone converted their leafs springs to trailing arms?

I was looking at doing the same thing to my '71 GMC, was going to get a donor c10 frame and swap the crossmember and everything into mine, just never bothered. Here is an article I found that has a few pics of doing a conversion...

    is this normal?

That's pretty standard on my rigs...always took it to mean I have a strong coil and bought a cheap cap. With higher rpms on a long trip, still haven't been able to prevent that from happening until I went to off cap coil for HEI.

    Correct interior re-dye colors?

Since your on the subject, what is the best place to get quality dye? Never done dye before and was looking at items like my arm rest pads that I bought since they are not the exact blue my interior was stock.

    SBC rocker adjustment problem

The Comp Cams uses the empty hole to put the pilot end in as a guide while you mill, just not very fond of that idea, although probably would work fine. I didn't see instructions with either cutter, so just a guess around a 600 rpm speed with coolant for cutting based on head material.
