    2001 YZ 250

I have been slowly making a little progress on the bike. New bearings in the swingarm and linkage, frame getting cleaned up for paint, new crank and piston with the cylinder at the machine shop. This is going to be a new bike when/if we ever get finished.

    Home built wood engine stand?

This was too cheap to try and build something for me. https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/80064/10002/-1

What have you done to your square lately??

It was running poorly and parked for a decade or more before I got it. They had no idea what was wrong with it so I thought I would take things apart and see what I could see. I haven't found anything crippling except the oil pickup wasn't in the oil pump and was stuck to the bottom of the pan...

    2001 YZ 250

Found a friend to patch my case, but the repair needs attention. The fix was too big and will be hit by the chain and sprocket but we are on the right track to getting back on two wheels.

Really digging the banshee. I have had two of those and loved them. It wouldn't take a lot of work to sell me another lol I had an 86 lt250r that was a pretty quick machine but I think the 87 was pretty different. Mine was wore completely out. I will see if I can find an old photo of that...

    2001 YZ 250

My friend that was willing to look at welding this has told me she didn't think she could get it done without it leaking. :( Still on the hunt for someone who might be able to weld it and chasing a lead on a side case in Mississippi that might work. I think the side case did change. From what...

    2001 YZ 250

Oh, it also needs brake pads. SMH. With the side cover off and the jb weld knocked off. The way that clutch actuator moves behind the broken hole is going to make this repair a tricky one I am afraid. Cross your fingers I can get it fixed. If not, I may have some bike parts for sale.

    2001 YZ 250

Picked up a bike the other day thinking I might have a cheap toy but my excitement about getting a new bike may have bit me this time. I bought this one expecting to fix it so I knew a little of what I was getting into. The guy selling this bike called it an 02 but in reality it is an 01...

    Header Paint?

I thought about that but someone on here said they would cause the headers to rust. Something about the heat and cooling trapping moisture etc. It made enough sense that I've almost dismissed the idea.

    Header Paint?

Thanks, I was afraid white was a lost cause but you have given me some hope :)

    Header Paint?

Anyone have any words of experience on painting a set of headers? I picked up a pair of rusty truck headers and want to paint them before putting them to use. I really like the look of white but I don't have high expectations they would stay that way. You guys use bbq paint, vht flame proof...

What have you done to your square lately??

I put the steering box and tie rods back on my frame. Started sourcing some stuff to start sorting the engine out. Picked up a set of headers and a holley street avenger yesterday.

    Air Hose

I bought one of these and have been pretty pleased with it. It is a real upgrade over pvc. https://www.harborfreight.com/38-in-x-50-ft-premium-rubber-air-hose-63006.html

Green Gas Monkey Wrecked Truck being rebuilt.

I tried to watch the one before last where he is putting that notch in. He seems like a boob to me. "I never seen anything like that before, I guess they are rivets, I am going to call them rivets." Proceeds to attach grinding wheel upside down on the tool. "Next we have to take off these...

What new tools have you got lately?

I would like to have a grinder and impact like yours. This is my set tossed on the kitchen table. Currently undergoing a surprise basement remodel. :disgust:

What new tools have you got lately?

The drill I had was so early the battery wasn't removable. I used it once and the charger port corroded and I couldn't charge it again. Bought corded tools from that day forward. We were putting metal roof on though and that cord was such a pita. While my friends laughed at me... They had dewalt...

What new tools have you got lately?

I had been itching for some cordless tools recently. I tried a craftsman in the early days of cordless tools and hated it so bad I swore them off until now. I had helped a couple friends do a little construction and cordless is the way to go now. So in the hopes of buy once cry once I dropped...

Differences in 400 & 350 what will & will not swap?

You might be right about that. It's been several years lol

Differences in 400 & 350 what will & will not swap?

The heads are not the same so beware there. You can use 400 heads on a 350 but you cannot put 350 heads (in stock form) on a 400. The 400 has additional oil passages that can be drilled by a machine shop into other sbc heads. The pattern is the same but you will be unhappy soon after swapping...

    LS Fest Anyone?

I had a blast, met @Johnny Mac at the BluePrint engine tent, saw Tony Angelo and the twinpala, saw Cleetus McFarland and LeeRoy, and my youngest daughter had a good time too so it was totally worth the day. Brian Lohnes did all the track announcing too just like on TV. You guys should check it...

    LS Fest Anyone?

I snagged these for reference on some sanitary installs. One with what looks like the OEM harness and computer. These couple are from a cool Scout that this guy was selling to fund the build of a garage to do more of this work. That is a scout body on a new Rubicon frame and an LS swap...
