    Bad Proportioning Valve?

They say it, but they don't do it. Both sides of the system are isolated anyway, and I've never had a line fail where the light comes on and it doesn't empty half of the system.

    Bad Proportioning Valve?

That valve doesn't shut off the fluid flow. It only works to illuminate the warning light. You'll get it to recenter when you get the system pressure rebalanced. If you have 13" drums you probably have a LSPV which is attached to a link on the rear axle housing. If it's not too rotted you may...

    Rockauto Discount code?

Thanks. Just saved almost five bucks. Yeah, I know. But I can still buy something else with $4.65 that I wouldn't have had before.

    4 x 4 light flickering when engaged.

I've had two of those switches fail. Haven't bothered replacing it again. Don't know if my experience is unique, but it hasn't been good.

Stanadyne P/N: 27953 Looks to be obsolete Fuel Sentry products appear to be owned by Parker now: EE94370 You don't want to know what Parker wants for that.

    Fuel filter puzzle

The screws are the same. There was a production change between the tapered tip and a rubber tip. If they don't match one of them was changed. Be careful, they break easily. The vacuum sensor illuminates the WIF lamp when the filter becomes restricted and the injection pump starts to pull vacuum...

    Fuel filter puzzle

AFAIK all of the things you are referring to are on the filter assembly. There is another one of those valves near the bottom of the filter to drain water. The water sensor is in the base that the filter attaches to. There is also a vacuum switch that lights the WIF light if the filter becomes...

    Oil pressure gauge problem

Wouldn't it be the other way 'round? Open when there is oil pressure, and closed with no oil pressure to illuminate the warning lamp?

    Oil pressure gauge problem

Did you try disconnecting the wire from the sensor? 0 ohms sounds like the sensor is shorted, if I'm reading that correctly.

Greeting from the, X-tire capitol of the world.

Welcome to GMSB. Nice to see someone from North Coast here. Just out of curiosity, and another one of your posts kind of suggested it, is your truck right-hand drive, or are most of the vehicles around you being driven on the wrong side of the road?

    Test Drive Etiquette

I'd be dipped if I'd assume the liability of letting someone I have no knowledge of drive a vehicle I own. If the customer knows enough about what they're buying they will be able to make their evaluation based on an inspection and a test ride as a passenger. If they don't, recommend they have a...

    C10 vs K10 rearend

I believe you are correct, but it wouldn't hurt to check, and inquiring minds want to know.

    C10 vs K10 rearend

Since you can compare them side by side check the length of the shock mounts and the pinion angle. Is the new one the same ratio as your old one? You can probably swap your 5-lug axles into the new rear.

    Brake rubbing sound?

It's possible that the pads on the backing plate that the shoes ride on may need some grease. If the drum is a little eccentric it wil move the shoes around and make them rub on those pads. Naturally make sure everything is functioning and adjusted properly while you're in there.

    ID marks

There were a few turbo kit makers in the day. That one is not a Banks or ATS, I suspect you're going to be doing some internet research. The early oil pressure senders were prone to shorting. I was driving in to Brooklyn once when the truck was new and looked down to see the gauge pegged. Not...

    Np208 transfer case brace

I think the bracing has a lot more to do with the up and down of the chassis than the torque the powerplant applies.

    My thoughts on spare alternators

Long time ago a friend was driving tow trucks and occasionally he'd be doing a late night job and he'd ask if I wanted to ride along. So one time we go into Queens with an older GMC to pick up a box truck. On the way out he notes that the alternator isn't charging, but we're almost there and...

Pictures of the bed! No wait! That doesn't sound right either! I just wanted pictures of how well the lights work. Oh gawd. How did this go sideways?

    6.2 compressor brackets needed.

They likely used a DA6 compressor. Look on RotAuto to see what they look like. I'll try to get you some photos tomorrow.

I never knew how hot P/S fluid gets. New conversion. Pic's inside.

Well, that was impressive. That first Charger would have concerned me because the state police around here drive a lot of those. And I thought it was only around here that people tried to merge with a 50 MPH speed differential. Maybe they were from New York. Good video.

    82 K20 4x4 Diesel swap

The pickups in the fuel tanks are different. The motor mounts and frame brackets are different. The transmission, as noted, is different. The gauges and senders are different. If you want the factory fuel filter setup, there's a separate harness for the water in fuel and glowplug indicator on...
