    deaver 63's

anyone use deaver 63" springs in the back? found a local set for a pickup with a 4" lift. was thinking I would try with some CFM front hangers and stay with an upright shackle. Might be just the ticket for lift, ride and flex. spring rate is really the only question. Guess I need to call...

it rides pretty horribly. I always thought procomp used black bushings, but imagine you can get what ever color you want.

rustoleum, converter, what? before welding patch panels in?

Im replacing some small sections of flooring that had begun rusting. Its right where the floor steps up and flattens out in front of the back seat. Where the 1/2 bolts are along the floor, that secure the floor to the underside bracing. I have cut out to decent metal, but there is still some...

    lift kit identification?

Ive got the hogback kit for steering reinforcement. Checking the frame around the box looks pretty good. When I convert to crossover Ill weld the plates on. Till then, I may just use the crossmember. I dont mind the work, as it gives me a chance to show the kid what different things do to...

    lift kit identification?

ID be all for throwing the stock 52's up front. getting differing opinions on streetability. My teenager will be driving this, so I dont want it too unstable. Ive got a set of 57" ford springs I was thinking about throwing in the back, unless I can find some 63's for a fair price.

    lift kit identification?

not much room for the shackle to move back anyway before hitting the frame. I would have expected the springs to be a bit longer. Is it normal for people to have to move the hanger forward on a lift? First time chevy owner, but that seems dumb if the manufacturors arent making longer springs...

    lift kit identification?

i understand how leaf springs ride, but this is awful. A well tuned leaf setup can work great, usually with high dollar parts of course, but this is like the polar opposite of that. 5 thick leaves and lousy shocks. hoping the swaybar likes will help, but want a plan B till the one tons and...

    lift kit identification?

my sons new to him 87 has a lift on it. Its running 35" tires on 15" wheels. Has a 5" block in the back on what looks like stock 52" springs. the front has newer leaf pack, with thick red bushings, and the shackle is short, Im guessing stock, that is pointed forward at like 7oclock. Was...

    6.2 vacuum pod removal?

I was under the impression I didnt have to remove the oil pump/drive portion and could just unbolt the pod and remove. The pod is hitting the rear runner on the intake. Im hoping there is something I am missing. Was hoping to not have to pull the drive gear shaft as well. I understand that...

    6.2 vacuum pod removal?

Do you need to pull the intake to replace the dizzy style vacuum pod? Can I just loosen the "dizzy to rotate it or does it not work like that? Currently the pod hits the intake and I cannot get the old one out unless there is something I am missing.

gauges are driving me nuts- gauge power ignition wires?

that was it! thank you so much. still not sure what the hell that fuse is labeled as, but that fixed my problem. The other fuse is the cluster lighting for anyone who comes across this.

gauges are driving me nuts- gauge power ignition wires?

unless its the instr which may mean instruments, but that checks fine EDIT: disregard, it apparently is intermittent. It is now not working. Im guessing that is my culprit. Ill have to pull the fuse panel and see whats going on with the back side of this thing.

gauges are driving me nuts- gauge power ignition wires?

i do not have a gauges fuse, just the plugs i mentioned before, so maybe there is a fusible link? here is what the voltmeter reads at the 18 pin location with key on engine off as well

gauges are driving me nuts- gauge power ignition wires?

there are no fuses on these pink/blk wires. Two go into one single fitting and the other is a single wire into the plug. They have 12 volts at the panel, and on the plug side of the wire. The same same wires at the gauge side plug goes down to .12 volts, so, and while I am certainly an...

gauges are driving me nuts- gauge power ignition wires?

SO i have spent hours trying to figure out why these damn gauges dont work. I have verified all gauges work individually, sourced a new resistor for the volt meter, check continutiy to grounds, etc, etc. Was expecting things to work today when I plugged it together and Nope, nada nothing. So...

    vacuum pump-where to buy?

more than happy to swap the pod but not sure what pod I can use. I found some infor about maybe using a 6.5 pod, or even some ford ones, but not sure part numbers or not. Ive been trying to figure out if the delphi nlvp1790 is the right one, but the only place I can find that is jegs, and it...

    vacuum pump-where to buy?

I am having a hell of a time finding a source for a new vacuum pump or pod. Mine does not seem to be working. Its an 87 blazer with the distributer style vac pump. After hours of searching, most links I found are dead, the businesses that supposedly used to sell them, no longer do, etc. etc...

    Help with malfunctioning cluster.

get a volt meter and select the continuity. put one probe at connector and then the other to the other end of the wire where it would attach to the sender of your choice. You may need to make a jumper wire that will be long enough for the voltmeter probes to reach. I would think an internet...

    Help with malfunctioning cluster.

pull the plug off your dash bezel. There are (at least on my 87) three black wires in that plug. Check for continuity to ground to see if they are working. I believe the number 5 is ground for sure, and then the bottom lead on that side is water temp. hate to ask the obvious but the bulbs...
