    Drooling!

Buddy of mine sent this over to me. Wish I had the cash! Or more like I wish my wife would let me spend the cash, lol. He has everything for it. Says it burns oil. I'd get it for my El Camino.

6 lug 4x4 suburban to 3/4 4x4 lwb truck frame swap. “Squarebody”

Yup, Axles will bolt right in just use the drive shaft out of the 3/4 ton, they should be close in size, or get a combo joint or new drive shaft. Keep the Suburban on the Suburban frame. The Suburban frame drops down in the rear while the Pickup is straight. I figured this out when hunting for a...

‘88 Burb spare tire filler panel?

Suburbans have a spare tire well behind the driver side wheel tub that is really deep and if you have oversized tires and want to carry a spare it's kind of useless. It's easier to lay it flat in the back. I just measured mine and it's about 12" wide and 33" long. I also measured my long bed and...

T-case front output bearing/seal replacement, do-able with case in truck?

I used this when I rebuilt my 205. Obviously you don't have to do the whole thing. Just skip to the part about taking out the front output. http://www.wideopen4x4.com/NP205RebuildGuide.html

    Leaf Spring

Does anyone know the factory leaf spring bushing sizes? I've got a pile of poly bushings laying around and need to put new bushings in my front springs, both eyes and maybe the frame bushing. I poked around online and found 1.5" and 1.1". Is the front of the spring 1.5" and the rear of the...

    Drip rail woes

I know you said one had foam tape, did you do the other? I need to take mine off at some point and fix the bubbles underneath. They are lifting off the body. I was thinking of putting some type of weatherstrip tape or silicone under them to seal them.

‘88 Burb spare tire filler panel?

I plan on doing the same, plus mine is rotted along the edge under the barn doors. I haven't had the time but I'm going to do some measuring and see if I can use repair panels from a truck bed or Blazer.

Look what I found in my shed 3970010

I wish! 3970010 was the most common casting number GM used on their 350's from '69 through '80. It was also on the 302 and 327 but less common. If you do find a block with ++ after the casting number it will have either 010 or 020 (10% or 20%) under the timing cover just above the main bearing...

Look what I found in my shed 3970010

I don't see a ++. AFAIK, which isn't much, high nickel blocks have a ++ after the casting number. The actual nickel content is under the timing cover.

a 350? edit: fat fingered 305 instead of 350. My brain works faster than my fingers sometimes.

14 bolt semi float factory locker

The VIN you posted above, CKR148S114410, indicates a 1/2 ton. I was mistaken about the heavy 1/2 as Rory had pointed out. Those were only '88-'98 trucks. The rear is most likely a 10 or 12 bolt, but looks like a 12 bolt (I count 8 bolts that I can see, which is about 2/3 of the cover).

You have a "heavy half" it seems. @RoryH19 has the same rear. 6 lug semi float 14 bolt.

I was always a Fram guy. Probably because that's what my dad used and my Grandpa used. But after seeing this I think I'll switch.

    the viper mistake

I'm the same way. Left foot brake, right foot gas. I've done so much racing and wheeling it's 2nd nature to me now. If I try and use my right foot to brake I put myself through the windshield, lol. When I drive stick I can stop fine with my right foot. It's weird.
