Best way to run power from truck battery to trailer winch. Quick disconnect ends.

I don’t know if this applies to where you keep your trailer but sometime in the near future I’ll be in the process of rigging up some kind of solar charger for my bosses dozer that sits outside…

    4 x 4 light flickering when engaged.

It’s most likely a “ball detent” type of switch, it’s screwed into the case. The shift lever part inside the case actuates the switch when in position. Check the shift linkage at the TC, it may be sloppy there or you just need a new switch.

Best way to run power from truck battery to trailer winch. Quick disconnect ends.

This is the way to do it. They have two different dump bed trailers where I work, the dump beds are hydraulic pump powered. There is a big group 31 deep cycle battery and small battery charger/tender mounted along side the hydraulic pump. It’s a very nice setup, it isn’t home made. You just...

    AM/FM Radio

I used to do repairs on those radios & cassette decks way back when.. finding matching capacitors can be very difficult now though. My eyes aren’t what they were then though. I still do occasional repairs for friends on some late 70s early 80s home receivers and guitar amps, but only a few brands.

    Cardboard utility box upgrade.

I like it, especially the corner pieces for speaker placement. I’ll probably fab some like those in the future for my cab. I’ll probably use aluminum or stainless though. I work part time at a metal fab shop and can use their equipment.

New to pickups & fifth wheels

A large percentage of the RV world, the folks that camp remotely, has embraced the lithium battery. There’s tons of info online about installation, solar, inverters, generators, etc… but it’s very, very, expensive compared to standard lead acid batteries…

    Headliner what to do

I’ve got a teenager that lives next door, he’s a great young man. He recently did his headliner in “Cow Print”…. I had no idea at first what he was talking about but after seeing it I like it.

Anything can be accomplished if enough time and money are spent towards it.. Do a lot of research and find the RV that fits your needs first, it’s a buyers market right now, there’s a glut of used ones that were bought during Covid. Then decide how much power you’ll need in a pickup. I’m no...

New to pickups & fifth wheels

It’s all about the weight.. today’s RVs come in many types, from ultra light all the way up to the huge toy haulers. Keep in mind the advertised weight on RV web sites is as they roll off the assembly line, no battery, propane tanks etc…plus your personal stuff adds up quick also. A huge...

Acquired an 84 K30 parts truck

It’s body sealer along every seam inside the bed. Mine just pulled right away, but this bed wasn’t very rusty at all, I had no stripped hardware. The tough part for me was at the tailgate posts, the bed side is sandwiched there between the rearmost bed bottom support and the bed floor. I used...

Acquired an 84 K30 parts truck

I’ve recently completely reassembled the ‘70s bed I purchased. The bed sides bolt on the front panel and along the wheel wells and bed floor. There are some short welds at the bottom of the tailgate posts to the bed floor. Those sides weigh about 80lbs each and are difficult to maneuver.

You can basically do anything you want, air bags can make any rig level, I see it all the time when we travel in our RV. Lots of rigs out there are way over loaded, especially when it comes to the pin weight of the RV on the rear of the truck. Being able to do it efficiently without having...

How to tell if my NP203 has been converted to part time?

From what I’ve read if the Mile Marker part time conversion kit has been installed the shift pattern is changed. It will be as shown here.

    (Advice) PCV Valve strange issue.

What kind of valve covers are these? Are they the stock equipment? The other valve cover, the one without the PCV valve, must have an opening for air to enter the engine…. Give us some pics!!

What tire size you running and pic for bonus.

Sorry there isn’t a cab & box on it yet, but these are 295/70-17s. They measure about 33 1/2” tall, this is with an ORD 4” lift kit.

Making sure inverted flare cooler lines seal

The flair does the sealing, don’t distort it by over tightening. Mating a metal line to an aluminum fitting, two different metals, use Anti-Seize.

    Transfer Case Issue?

From your description that’s definitely an NP203, and there is no 2H, it’s all time 4WD, unless it’s been modified. If it has been modified with a “part time” kit the shifter pattern is different than what’s shown on the shifter. When the TC is in the very center position, it should be in...

I hate the power window and door lock switches

I took Industrial Electricity in vocational school during my Junior and Senior yrs of high school, this was the late ‘70s. The two teachers were retired master electricians and they taught us that splice and several others, the classroom had many displays of them. It gave me the foundation for...

    Red Oxide Primer

Oil based enamel primers & paints, over the years I’ve used it many times depending on what was being painted and the budget for the product. Tractors and implements, race cars, etc.. mostly things that didn’t need to be great quality and would look okay from a distance. I’d suggest thinning...
