    Edelbrock 1405

Yes it's possible it is boiling the gas. Also there's a check valve in the fuel pump that may be bad, letting the gas drain back into the tank. Be sure all your rubber fuel lines get converted to neoprene or other ethanol-proof line, and use a good filter like a Wix before the carb.

Page 8 here describes choke adjustment... http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/misc/tech-center/dl/carb-owners-manual.pdf Hard hot starts is usually timing a little too advanced or carb running lean.

    Write up: Gas Tank Relocation

The vent line is 5/8", same size as what was stock on the saddlebag tank. The vent line ties in to the filler neck really high on the neck, which was different than the stock filler for the saddlebag tank so I thought it would be better higher up. It's literally within an inch of the cap. I...

    Write up: Gas Tank Relocation

When I filled mine for the first time it took the fuel fine but when it got full it was like a geyser there for a second lol freaked me out, lost a good cup or two of gas. I should probably look into the pitch I have.

GM Corporate gear change for $175, I bring the kit

If you have some specialty tools like a dial indicator micrometer with a stand, caliper micrometer, high ft-lb impact wrench, shop press and a few other assorted goodies you could take it on yourself. If not $175 per axle is a fair price, as long as the backlash is set right, good mesh pattern...

    Fitech

I've read a lot about people using the Bosch 044 pump but it's money, $227 on Summit. If you look into it and think you found a good deal on one make sure it's not a Chinese knockoff, I also read about a lot of people getting ripped off that way when the pump dies prematurely.

Can't figure out my issue at cruising speed

What carb? I've heard (and seen) the pickup tube falling off the top plate of the q-jet and causing it to run badly. If your rebuild guy didn't epoxy them it's possible one came loose.

    Ignition HELP! [solved]

Dad used to tell me an engine only needs fire and fuel to run. He left out the part about cam timing, ignition timing and all the things that can go wrong there, and all the different ways the fuel system can fail. If you can work on a non-CEL engine, diagnose without the luxury of being able to...

    Ignition HELP! [solved]

Never assume you're on the compression stroke, be 100% sure. As for lining up the oil pump drive, the screwdriver you're using, you can use a sharpie to mark the handle of how the blade is oriented. Just turn the oil pump drive about a half position before #1, like in between 1 and 2...

    bent 14bff axle tube... repair?

Average price of a 14b ff around here is about $150. Unless you have a specific gearset/locker or disk brake setup already installed I wouldn't get sentimental with it.

    Ignition HELP! [solved]

No I haven't. I think it would be awesome to have a gunshop with an indoor range that for a small fee you could shoot a mag of whatever firearm you're interested in. Have some "sample" handguns people can try.

    bent 14bff axle tube... repair?

I would show it to an alignment shop and see what they say, eliminate the possibility of an optical illusion, although you seem pretty sure. Even if it is bent it's easy to fix. Buy a new 14 bolt lol. When shopping walk away from the idiots who say one is "rare". But the shop may spot something...

    Ignition HELP! [solved]

I'm a firm believer in a good solider joint and heat shrink tubing. If I could save 3-4 hours of misery from my life from fncking with tearing into a bulk head I would do it if the wire didn't get too crispy. Did it get pinched in the bellhousing or something to burn up? Definitely find out what...

    Ignition HELP! [solved]

Going by what @chengny described, if you don't have 12v on the B+ terminal of the distributor with the key in the "run" position, it sounds like the starter switch (not the key switch but the switch lower on the column) could be bad. If you have no voltage on the B+ you could try to run a jumper...

    Ignition HELP! [solved]

I have a Shield, it's the most accurate sub-compact I've shot so far, I think you'll like it. I hate the trigger though. Supposedly the new ones have re-worked triggers instead of that sloppy, clicky, mushy thing with the terrible reset I have now.

    '79 Camaro Restomod

I've seen them called "seamless" rods, pretty neat shit. Summit has a bored/notched 355/383 block, brass freeze plugs, cam bearings, align honed on the crank journals, 1-piece rear main seal, already tapped for roller lifter spider for $700. For $800 you can get an Eagle 383 rotating assembly...

    Ignition HELP! [solved]

I took a momentary switch and wired a couple of 2' pieces of wire to it with alligator clips on the ends. Clip one end to the switch side of the starter, the other to the hot on the battery and you wont need her to hit the key for you, thus saving your marriage lol. I know that shit can get...

    3" vs 2.5" exhaust ANSWER!

If you know the year/make there's a place here in WV that pulls engines and transmissions from wrecks, I'm sure you could find an 8.1 on their site and have it drop-shipped to a local UPS warehouse. They give you mileage readings and quality ratings so you get a better idea what you're getting...

    Rear flip issues

If the 2 shocks are different lengths the seller must have sent you 1 front shock and 1 rear shock, fronts are shorter than rears.

    Trans help/ suggestions maybe?

Your rear gears is what probably makes it run through gears fast, likely 4.56. I'm not sure how much a .75 overdrive gear will help your highway rpms. Need to put a tach on it and see how much Rs you're actually turning.

    Dana 70hd pinion baffle

No it is not required except for extreme heavy duty applications. I left mine out of my D60 when I set it up. It is meant to retain more oil on the pinion bearings.

    Limits of Vortec Heads

I think it would be grounds for replacement. Keep in mind it was running with the rocker out of alignment putting thrust against that rough area. A new lifter should be fine. And for good measure it would be worth checking them all while you're in there where you can do it.

    Limits of Vortec Heads

Around 0.460 is the max valve lift for stock Vortec heads. More than likely yours have been machined in the spring seat and valve guide for more lift, otherwise it would have been catastrophic failure long before now.
