What have you done to your square lately??

Wipe on clearcoat you say? Tell me more. I have a crew cab with terrible paint on hood and roof, would like to improve it a bit once it's cooler weather.

    Air Cleaner Stud

Man even NOS or stainless steel should be cheaper than that....1/4-20 threaded rod, usually comes in a foot long stick, just cut to measure.

What have you done to your square lately??

Teams getting into the postseason for several years in a row...that can make teams complacent. Just saw the Astros drop two to the Tigers; they haven't been in October baseball for ten years, we have been for eight straight seasons. Oh well, were we in the playoffs, my brother's Wednesday night...

    2 post shop lift

Walmart used to mandate bump caps (kind of a mini hard hat) for their auto techs when doing under car work. Don't know if they still do....

    2 post shop lift

The original location of our parts store had a two bay shop behind the showroom, between it and the warehouse. First bay had a center post lift, that probably dated from 1960-61 when the building was constructed. We used it occasionally to work on under car stuff; one time was the headers and...

    Engine Paint Color Question

I want to say that our '84 Burb had a blue engine. I know the '90 had a black one; both 350s. I think the '79 had a black one, but it had a Target Master engine so it was whatever color those came in the '80s....

What have you done to your square lately??

Dad did a bolt and jam nut setup on the positive cable on our OBS Burb. I need to do that with the crew cab, it's tried to strand us yesterday cause it was loose. I keep a 5/16" gear wrench in the passenger side door pocket for that purpose!

New guy with a '78 'burb

Looks a lot like the inside of the '79 Chevy Burb we had for many years. Ours had factory buckets and console in front, those were comfortable seats (but Mom made covers for them because vinyl is not so nice in the summer!). You will want to get the cover back on the tailgate to cover the window...

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

I guess if you're not near a big city like Jackson or Mobile/Gulfport....we get spoiled here in the greater Houston area because there is so much available. Sometimes you might have to drive across town though and that can be interesting.

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

Aamco 3000? I cut many a drum and rotor on the one we had. Took three of us to get it out the door and into a pickup, when we closed the parts store. I used it on our personal fleet for many years after that, till we sold it a few years ago. We had a starter and alternator tester too, same guy...

    Steering Wheel Cleaning

Skin oils and dirt are only part of the issue. Plastic, particularly the softer kinds, has oils in it that degrade over time, especially in hotter climates. Those wheels we used to clean with Simple Green, we used to scrub them with plastic net like fruit bags, it's one of the few materials that...

    Steering Wheel Cleaning

Many years ago, when we were getting the GM comfort grip spoked steering wheels from the local Pick Your Part's, we had a plastic washtub that was large enough to dip them in. We'd keep it about half full of Simple Green and water(I think 50/50 mix, don't remember but it probably has suggestions...

Has anyone weighed a 15x8 rally wheel

Things like that, are why Dad had a swap meet wagon. One time, many years ago, at the Decatur, Texas swap meet, I carried a genuine LT-1 Corvette aluminum intake manifold across the Wise County fair grounds(where the meet is held) all the way out to the last row of the parking lot, against the...

Yup the long boys are fun to park, especially in tight lots, but it can be done. It helps me to visualize things from the aerial view, to see what direction I need to move it, to turn around in our front lot here at the park. Usually requires a three point turn.... it's about 60-65' to the fence...

Phoenix is 1200 miles from Houston, half of that distance is between Austin and El Paso. You can fit several small states in Texas LoL.

What have you done to your square lately??

Cool thanks! I'm gonna go to it some year, it's a serious road trip from Houston, Texas. Gotta save up so I can afford to take some days off, and get the truck prepped and reliable. We have been to Austin and Lafayette in them, but the 5 hours to Lafayette is the longest run (and that was in the...
