350 vortec 5.7 lower intake leaking vacuum?? Help please

Did you feel or smell the puddle of oil in the one intake runner? Just curious if it was a puddle of gas and not oil.

350 vortec 5.7 lower intake leaking vacuum?? Help please

@bucket seems spot on… Be sure to order the upgraded lower intake gasket set, the factory style is plastic and the upgrade is aluminum. The aluminum ones are over twice the cost, I think I paid over $50 for my last set. I also bought ARP bolts since the GM ones are supposedly one time use. The...

    Radiator Support Body Mounts

Shoot, sorry not much help here. Even using same mounts and bolts on mine the core support mounts seemed to want a little more bolt than I had so your logic makes sense.

Just started my first hands on squarebody build, looking for advice

Welcome to the club… Advice for building any vehicle: 1) Do actually disassemble the vehicle by removing fasteners. The amount of people that go full ADHD with sawzalls and torches is ridiculous. 2) Don’t throw anything away (removed parts, bushings, Etc.) until you have at least completed...

    Radiator Support Body Mounts

I ordered the good mark ones from Summit, short ones for core support and front of cab and a pair of tall ones for the rear of the cab. The good mark mounts look almost identical to the ones AMD sells. My truck is an ‘80 so it might be different for the ‘81 and newer bodies. The bolts they...

Stock manifolds from a Vortec SBC, sandblasted and VHT header paint. If I had it to do over I would have done them in Cerakote since they are in such good shape.

85 K20 4X4 6.0 6L80E swap. What are my fuel delivery options. Rear tank?

I plan on using a similar switch setup except incorporate the fuel pump trigger from the PCM to the switch. Switch output will activate the relays which will pass power to the pump This will allow the PCM to prime the pump for 3 seconds when the key is cycled.

85 K20 4X4 6.0 6L80E swap. What are my fuel delivery options. Rear tank?

^^^^ What these guys said '87 TBI tanks and senders retrofitted with EFI pumps Pollack 6 port valve rated for 66PSI Earls vaporguard fuel line and clamps Made a steel return line to follow the stock supply line from the pollack valve across to the DS tank Replaced the steel supply line to the...

What’s IT Worth? (Post all “what’s it worth threads here)

Boy oh boy, thanks for the compliment… My truck was a mess when I got it in ‘96, and trashed again when I started it this time. If I would’ve started with one this clean I would’ve D/A’d it down, primed, blocked it out with 400, primed, blocked with 600 and squirted it with factory matching...

    6l80e to np205 brace

I've never done the 6L80 swap but have done 4 speed SM 465 to 5 speed NV1500 manual to 700R4/4L60 swaps... From my understanding 6L80 & 700R4/4L60 are approximately the same length, since these chassis have had 700's in them it should be a straightforward process. Drop the crossmember and...

    Building a new brake system

From what I have read almost all of the combination valves available are junk, they all look identical to the one you linked above. Maybe the POL stuff is better IDK. I ordered this one from Summit racing and cant get it to stop leaking. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaf-all41040

    Door Skin Sound Deadening

I used some stuff that came in a large roll, just lowered it down through the window slot while everything was disassembled. ETA: Then cut up my arms and hands trying to get in there to roll it out. Also, supposedly the first 60% of coverage does like 90% of the work, every bit of coverage...

    pinion yoke

Pattern gears and check backlash before you disassemble, if everything is in spec (or close to it) just put all the shims back where you found them and recheck after assembly. Unless you are replacing the ring and pinion try to just keep everything the same.

    pinion yoke

Nope... Once the crush collar has been crushed too far it needs to be replaced, besides the bearings need to be inspected and/or replaced since they have been cooked. In theory you could loosen the pinion nut and retighten to set preload but, the crush collar's job is to give the nut...

    pinion yoke

I'd bet broken centering pin is the most common cause... I saw one a while back that would shift how far it would dog leg while breaking and accelerating. It was scary to follow

    pinion yoke

If you over tightened the pinion nut the preload on the bearings can be too tight. There is a crush collar on most pinions that allows the nut to be tightened until the bearing preload is at the recommended spec. Most manuals will say the crush sleeve needs to be replaced every time but so...

    Mirror and Vent Windows

If I had it to do over I would’ve sent mine into Precision to get refurbished. Or at least ordered my parts directly from them, vent windows are a major PIA.
