    Red Oxide Primer

I tried looking up the tech data sheet for tremclad and all I could find was MSDS… I’m not familiar with the stuff, I typically use epoxy primers and 2K urethanes. When I was looking for a TDS it seems like tremclad is advertised as an oil base product.

Is there a good spot for keyed power under the hood?

Whatever wire you choose test it to be certain it provides power with key in the “run” position and in the “start” position. The ignition switch is designed to cut power to several circuits while cranking…

    Broken wire

Like others said it’s a fusible link that has burnt up. There are two hot leads that power up the fuse block, that is one of them. IIRC one of the two feeds the ignition switch, headlights, … The other feeds almost everything else in the cab. Both of the wires on that spot on the firewall...

    Steering column mount bolt size

The headstamps on the bolts from the picture appear to be metric... Sorry not much help. If no one can get you an answer before the weekend I could pull one out and measure

    Painting rally wheel rim

I did mine in AMC electric blue metallic This is an old picture but it’s the only one I have of them in the sun. I did them this color when I first built the truck in 1997, so I did them the same this time. It really pops once the center caps and rings go on

    New guy from North California

Welcome, from Northern California too… My preference for half ton short bed with 33’s is about 3” of lift. Here’s an old picture of mine with 3.5” re-arched springs in the front and 3” blocks in back. Sorry, no info on who makes the best riding springs.

    Packrat chewed wires--what was this?

I believe the black plastic was just a factory crimp... BUT, the section of wire you replaced should probably be a fusible link not just standard automotive wire. The terminal on the firewall is connected to the battery through the starter and possibly the alternator and is otherwise unfused...

    Finding Serpentine Belt Lengths

I went through about 6 before I figured out exactly what belt to get for mine and it’s all factory stuff. Good luck Sir.

    1984 K10 Steering Column question.

Not sure if the difficult key removal is related to the wobbly column. These four torx headed bolts loosen up over time causing the column to wobble. It’s quit the job breaking the column down this far but, if you remove the wheel, lock plate, and turn signal switch you can get to two of them...

    Mandrel exhaust shop

I bought a flow master builder kit when I started my project, really happy with it but it has gone up in price quite a bit since I bought it. It came with enough parts to choose several different tailpipe locations, would have fit many different wheel bases, and an H-pipe option. The only...

What new tools have you got lately?

I’ve been tempted to build something like this for my blast cabinet. Without a vac line hooked it gets so dusty to see what you’re doing. With a vac hooked up it just about kills the vacuum because the filter gets plugged immediately.

    FRONT DIFF SWAP

Keep JK, JL, and JT all have Dana 44 DS differentials (depending upon options) and a few different widths options. Not sure if the widths would work in a square. They are commonly swapped by the jeep guys for Dana 60’s and can be found on Craigslist nearly new for about 1000-1500 with the 4:10...

    PLEASE HELP!!!

Here’s a how it works to assist The inner part of your column which is moved by the shift lever has a square hole that moves a tab on the underside of the NSS Here’s the tab I was referring to, this is my old switch. Looks like the old switches have two screws in slotted holes behind it...

    PLEASE HELP!!!

Yup ^^^^ I’m not sure if they all adjust the same but the new one I put on my project can just be pushed left and right without tools. Some may have screws with slotted holes you would need to loosen up to adjust. Put the column in park -Disconnect the plug on NSS with purple/yellow wire...

    PLEASE HELP!!!

IDK…. Since your key won’t come out is the column shifted into “Park”? If the column isn’t in park the neutral switch will prevent starting and the key cylinder will keep the key from being removed. Did you bump the neutral safety switch while working on the switch? The neutral switch I am...

    Door Seal to big

^^^ This I was going to suggest lubing the weatherstrip (especially at the hinge side) with something. I smeared a thin layer of Vaseline on the door where it makes contact with the seal to get my doors to shut at all.
