What have you done to your square lately??

I added a little bit of refrigerant to the A/C system. That may seem like a very insignificant thing but... BigUn/Mrs. Redfish is having her 40th class reunion tomorrow night. She thinks it might be cool to bring The '87 to her Class of '83 Reunion. I have long suspected that my super cheap...

Wow, that is an outstanding truck. I am jealous. I hope you have an alarm system installed, it appears that you live in a crime infested neighborhood. The place looks kind of run down... :)

Feels like front suspension 'bottoms out' over speed bumps.

The K10s, as far as I know, came with just two leafs (leaves?). Yes, they had a negative arch and yes they rode rough. Very little suspension travel. It was very common to add a third leaf to give a slight lift. In some cases the third leaf might be strong enough to give it a significant...

Feels like front suspension 'bottoms out' over speed bumps.

Dan, I surely don't want to discourage you but that truck needs a lot of money and effort to get back in decent driving condition. Please remember I am trying to help you here, I promise you I am NOT criticizing you, your truck or your situation. The blocks under the front springs are a...

Feels like front suspension 'bottoms out' over speed bumps.

    1. New springs from the supplier of your choice. I went with Skyjacker SoftRide springs with a 2.5 inch lift. Measure your block thickness, decide if that is the amount of lift you want and get new springs. Order the bolts, U-bolts and correct bushings also. In my case, the Skyjacker used a...

Feels like front suspension 'bottoms out' over speed bumps.

You should absolutely NOT have a block like that under your front springs. That is okay for the rear but not for the front. Looks like the bushings are gone for your sway bar.

    87 350 tbi exhaust chirp

Do you still have the factory manifolds? Is the air injection system still intact? Could it be related to that somehow? Sometimes the internal baffles in a muffler will break the tack welds and move around. Could your noise be a metal to metal rubbing inside the muffler(s)?

This serpentine belt isn't what should've been in my truck right?

And it sounds like it was installed properly.

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

I know I learned a lot from it. Thank you for posting the fix and not leaving us all hanging. I am really happy you got it figured out and all that time and money spent is now doing what you want.

1987 R10 5.7 EFI Air Cleaner GM Part Number

Do you mean this entire assembly? I am not sure its available and I think it was just for '87. I believe it has a different lid starting in '88. I know my '95 had dual posts but this '87 has a single center post.

    I'm at a loss..

I am not sure I agree with this...a proportioning valve limits the amount of pressure to the rear. The next quote below this one adds to my questions about that valve. If the fronts are always cold...they aren't getting enough pressure. Of course your definition of "cold" probably means "not...

    I'm at a loss..

It's possible that one of the "new" components is bad. I am curious about why it is "obvious" it's not the proportionating valve? Are you 100% sure that the brake pedal is releasing the master cylinder completely?

I need help and to know what this truck is worth

A couple Points to Ponder here... 1. That really is a very nice example of the upper end trim level and was obviously a beautiful truck in its day. I would have loved to have owned that truck when it was new. 2. What happened to the OP? 2 entire posts so far...

I need help and to know what this truck is worth

If you have never had to remove a tree that has grown through a piece of equipment you will be amazed at how difficult it can be. Getting that tree out of the truck or getting the truck out of that tree is going to be a pain in the a$$. Owner sounds like a jerk and I despise him for letting...

I think the difference is about 3.1". Yeah, I know we don't measure inches by the tenth... I would bet the difference is not really noticeable to anyone but you at this point. You have done a great job with that truck, you are seeking a level of perfection that truck didn't have the day it...

Looks like it's time to part with one of my squares

@mtnmankev if you can get a couple cell phone pics of that truck and text them to one of us we can post them for you. Feel free to PM me and we can swap cell numbers if that would help you. Do you have an actual dollar figure in mind for this truck? @Grit dog is your buddy advertising that...

    8-track player install

It's relatively simple. My wife Bigun/Mrs. Redfish has a sister. That sister is my Satan-In-Law. She was married to a great guy. She divorced him. The rest of the family kept him. He is Godfather to my son, a wonderful friend and he has a couple of really nice classic cars. The '79 Trans...

    Tuff Country Lift Kit Experience

@scenic760 you don't need any brake line extension or relocation for a 2" lift. I am thinking @waterpirate is correct about the "One instruction manual for everything". I also think that most of the instruction manuals for stuff like this are written more for shops that do this work often, not...

    8-track player install

My favorite-ex-brother-in-law has the factory AC/Delco 8 track in his '79 Trans Am. There is a cool factor to it that cannot be duplicated. 1. It fascinates people at car shows. They like to see "original" and what it really looked like back then. The mini suitcase of tapes is cool also. 2...

    Wilwood caliper D52

What did you find out? Did we ever reach a resolution on this? I have no loyalty to Wilwood but they have been building and selling that same caliper set for a long time. They usually work. I also recently had a technical issue with the Wilwood brakes on a '68 Camaro. I didn't know exactly...

    Rally Center Decal

I am not sure about the 2WD stickers but the 4WD are available from a few different internet searches... I suspect the color is off a bit but I am not certain. They are not quite as strong/thick as the OE. I STRONGLY suggest that you do not rely on the sticky adhesive on the back of the...

    LMC EFI gas tank install

I copied this from the Harris Tuning TBI website. 1. First I start with a new Fuel pump, STOCK 75lph TBI fuel pump will only support about 230hp before the fuel pressure drops like a rock. I recommend upgrading to the 1996 Vortec 155lph fuel pump which can support up to 450hp and plugs...

    LMC EFI gas tank install

If your motor is stock or close to stock the fuel pump for a 1987 TBI will be fine. If you have a lot more horsepower there are some fuel pumps that flow more than the OE pump. If you check the Harristuning website he recommends a better pump for more horsepower and he tells you how much...
