    TRANS SWAP

I would change the column to an auto when doing the swap. Are you putting a TH400 in? Also, IF your truck has a tilt column with the manual it will be worth a little something. HS

    Beginner Alternator Question

I've been looking at the "gen" light illuminated for several years while driving my '72 Camaro. Occasionally I would take my meter and check to make certain that the alternator was charging even though I had that constant light. Well, a couple weeks ago I drove it and the light remained on while...

    Beginner Alternator Question

12.6V should be healthy battery voltage. When the alternator is charging you should see well over 13V. You can check the feed at the rear post & see if you are getting 12V & do the same on the signal for the voltage regulator. Be certain to establish very good ground paths as well. Engine to...

Should I Drive My Truck To OBX For Our Annual Beach Vacation

You can buy a permit & drive out on the coast at Hatteras. I went out a few years ago when "Shelly Island" had formed. It's gone now though. HS

1992 RS Camaro. First car for Der Burger.

There was a trick on the 5speed manual cars too. A person could run the numbers out in 4th & set the cruise. Then a person could shift clutchless to 5th & it would sail on! A person told me anyways...4th, with the shift light illuminated like a beacon! If a person touched the clutch it would...

1992 RS Camaro. First car for Der Burger.

I spied out two 91/92 Z28 cars today while doing Driver's Ed. I always liked that tall deck spoiler & twin pockets on the hood. I couldn't afford them when new & now I have too dern many to mess with! One can still daydream though...

1992 RS Camaro. First car for Der Burger.

In '92 a pal of mine bought a red over red RS 5.0 5speed, it was our Sr year. He smoked so much herb that I ended up driving the car more than he did while new. He eventually dropped out of HS & continued to smoke up his inheritance. He trashed it & sold it for a few more fixes. I sure did like...

    Truck Size

I agree with that statement as well. With all the electronics and emissions junk that are on newer vehicles, they are pretty much manufactured to go for 300K miles and then be junked. I've said many times that nobody is ever going to raise a garage door and say "It's a Tesla! My dream car"! I...

    '73 Square needs a bed

The beds are interchangeable from 73-91 CKRV with some alteration or modification. The fuel filler, tailgate latch and front mounting bolts are the most common differences. They can be made to work without issue though. HS

    Hello from Las Cruces NM

I was just on Post last week. My wife had a procedure over at Womack. Bragg is a pretty large facility that spans 4 different counties. I have been at Uwharrie (mentioned in another post yesterday) on a couple different occasions and seen some special unit (Green Beret/Ranger/Delta) out humping...

Power steering leaking from weep hole

You have the gearbox pictured but mention the pump. I don't recall either having a weep hole like a water pump has. The pump may have a breather hole in the cap but the pump itself as well as the box should not. Hydraulics don't work well with air because air compresses and fluid does not. I...

I built the truck from spare parts & it was the first excursion for it. The tranny had acted goofy a time before so I carried another tranny along with axle shafts & joints.

My wife is small and is pregnant

Reading the title I immediately thought "she won't be small for long"! You can source a collapsing step that could be easily stored under the seat or behind. You'll have to be a gentleman & grab the door & step for her this way though. HS

Biggest jobs you have completed in the shortest amount of time.

About 25 years ago we were wheeling my '80 SB out at Uwharrie and the trans burned up. Yanked off the trail & into the campsite about 7PM. Pulled the tranny & had running again when the Ranger came by at 10PM to remind us of "quiet time". Now...who's gonna ask me why I carried a spare...
