Welp, I just posted this distributor up for sale. I’m going with the sniper hyperspark kit to pair with the sniper injection.

Howdy all! Up for sale is a factory hei distributor from my 85 suburban 454. $49 shipped takes it!

    Factory hei distributor and coil

It’s a low end cam. Pocket rpm is 1400-4900.

    Factory hei distributor and coil

Other caveat to this is I’m excited to see how the sniper setup works with this old coil.

    Factory hei distributor and coil

Sounds good. I’ll just go cap and rotor. Coil looks perfect and this was a garage kept truck it’s entire life.

    Factory hei distributor and coil

Sounds good. I’ll just get a new ac Delco coil, rotor, cap and make it new.

    Factory hei distributor and coil

Howdy all, My distributor and power steering pump are the last original things on my old 85 build. Is there any merit to a high performance distributor and coil? Or should I refresh the factory gm coil (new ac Delco coil, cap, and rotor)?

Roller tip vs full roller rocker?

Howdy all! I picked up this set of 1.7 full roller crane rockers for a steal. Anyone have any experience with them? Any benefit to these over roller tip comps?

454 build, which pistons to get to 9:1?

Pulled the trigger on these. Gonna do a .030 over bore and add em in. Curious to see what type of balancing will be required with em: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SLP-H426CP30

454 build, which pistons to get to 9:1?

Do you think this would be more bang for buck than just changing to a flat top overall? These are what my pistons look like now...

454 build, which pistons to get to 9:1?

Howdy all, My 454 went to the machine shop today for a block dip, new bearings, and valve jobs on the heads. I’m adding in this Howard’s hydraulic roller cam and lifters, matching springs, headers, rpm air gap intake, Holley sniper, 2.5” x pipe exhaust. My question is should I do new pistons...

454 peanut head cam change fun.

I’ll message Howard’s tomorrow and see what tool they recommend and what seal to match. Also, I’ll call some local machine shops.

454 peanut head cam change fun.

Bucket, what are your thoughts on this? It looks like the valve seal is too large to fit into this middle Howard spring?

Replace old pump or keep it?

Howdy all! In the midst of my suburban refresh the only accessory left that I haven’t replaced is the Saginaw style steering pump. I see that a lot of these new ones with the integrated reservoir have crap reviews. Should I just keep this one with the big remote reservoir?

    Thanks Bucket! You rock

454 peanut head cam change fun.

Thank you. Here is a pic of the heads. Can you tell me if all these springs have rotators (the mini cage)?

454 peanut head cam change fun.

Also it looks like I have oval port heads and not peanut port due to the casting number. 14081045
