    2-Piece Shaft swap into a K20 Longbed

I never thought I would ever hear anyone say that. One thing to consider is your anticipated vehicle top speed. The shaft critical RPM is a function of shaft material, diameter, wall thickness, vehicle speed, rear axle ratio, tire diameter, and maybe a few more variables. The shaft was...

    Tail light questions

And you run this risk as well: that you invest all the time, patience and skill and then everybody thinks your truck looks like a hearse. K

    Different brake codes?

They are to busy trying to find out if it's a manual or automatic trans, and if it has a/c. K

The one in the photo is a 20 series, and if yours has rally's its a 10 series (as mentioned). Nonetheless - welcome. And we love pics. If you can scrounge something up we can figure out how to get it posted here. K

Black. They are physically the same part; it's just the Silverado version has the brushed stainless laminate glued on.

    Inline 6 devac

Cut the extra boxes off the top of your original cover at the spot welds. Plug or reuse the holes in the cover, plus plug the holes at the other end of the AIR lines with a pipe plug. Repaint and reinstall. K

    Spring hanger

No welding took place on the frame line in the assembly plant. Only rivets. So - not factory. K

    Rally wheels

Agree. They are. The correct fronts should look just like the rears but with the center knocked out. K

Where does the engine smoothness come from?

It's fuel delivery, too. Fuel injection (especially computer controlled fuel injection) allows you to tailor the air/fuel ratio across the entire map of engine RPM and load. Precise fuel delivery helps smooth the idle as well. Carburetors are crude, crude devices, and are really just one step...

Where does the engine smoothness come from?

Two things: One - a GM V8 is inherently balanced, not only from a rotational mass standpoint but from a firing frequency standpoint. So there's less work to do, in terms of tuning mounts and adding damping devices then if you were working with a different engine. Secondly - the GM development...

How close are the aftermarket doors?

Any opportunities to find an original used door near you? I needed one a few years ago and was able to find one out of Texas, rust free.

How close are the aftermarket doors?

I just want to take a second for a shout out to my fellow GM sheet metal design engineers. People like to rag on General Motors quality, especially fit and finish from back in the day, but here you see the kind of major misses one often sees in aftermarket parts. I hear this and see this all...

'85 C10 Silverado stock wheel size

Not for rallys. 6.5" wide would be van rallys. https://www.gm.com/content/dam/company/no_search/heritage-archive-docs/vehicle-information-kits/chevrolet-trucks/1985-Chevrolet-Truck.pdf C/K truck rallys (RPO N67) are 15x7 base, and 15x8 for P225 or P235 tires. K

    JB5 vs JB7 Brake system

The easiest way to tell: JB5 is a half ton brake system, so the hubs will be 5 lug (or 6 lug for a K truck). I think what you meant to ask is: Do I have a JB6 or JB7? JB6 = 6600 lb GVW JB7 = 8600 lb GVW. K

Does anyone know any specifics on this truck????

I've never seen numbers anywhere close to that in any other documentation. I can get about 22mpg highway with my fuel injected V6/A833/3.73 gear. K

Looking for a matching OEM rear wheel hub cover for a 1985 C-30 dually

Correct. The only OEM wheels were the white wheels. There were no aluminum wheels or stainless simulators offered directly from the factory. K

    Marketplace Find of the Century

Pretty. I guarantee it's going to be a bouncy ride, hard to keep in the lane, and shoot to the right when you stab the brakes. K

    Front caliper upgrade?

Correct. 1 - Two pistons distribute the load on the pad better. 2- The smaller pistons have a better "L over D" ratio. That is, the single piston is really short and large in diameter, which can make it more prone to "cocking" in the bore, especially once you start to get some taper wear on...
