    Identify which rear drum brakes

Ah - I see somebody snuck another truck into the discussion. That is correct for a 350 = JB7. Diesel gets hydraboost, which is JDx. Gas gets vacuum, which is JBx. K

    Identify which rear drum brakes

JD7 in your case ("D" = hydroboost, or diesel. "B" = vacuum). That defines the total brake system, not just the front. K

    No. That's a date code.

Is this the original bed on my 85 Chevy k10

LWB (big tank) is 20 gallons. With my '80, which had dual tanks and a manual trans, you could run the tank dry (the truck would quit running), flip the switch and it would fire as soon as it got fuel and keep going. K

Is this the original bed on my 85 Chevy k10

I should have got the dual tanks when I ordered my '87. One 16 gallon tank (probably 12 gal useable) is not much fuel. K

Is this the original bed on my 85 Chevy k10

85 would be LH side for single tank; both side for dual tank. Gas door in either case. K

Feels like front suspension 'bottoms out' over speed bumps.

You should be able to see up in there and see how much clearance you have statically (just sitting). You should also be able to look at the jounce bumpers and spring plates to see if there are witness marks that they have been hitting. If you are unsure you could also mark them up with chalk...

    Front rotor question

I suppose the first thing to check is to make sure it's the right SPID label in the glove box (make sure the VIN and other option content matches the truck). If it's a JB5 then it definitely originally had the 1.25" rotors and 2.75" rear brakes. If it doesn't have those now then somebody has...

    Cab To Bed Dimension

Thank you; I've done some writing but it is mostly on internet forums and in short form responses. I really don't have the time right now to collect and publish anything; plus - I'm still making history. ;) Here are some favorite links: Growing up in and around Pontiac racing...

    Cab To Bed Dimension

I've written a few numbers myself, but not that particular one. (I spent a summer in St Louis building prototype front of dash assemblies and loading them into the production process. That took a lot of writing). K

Of course. I used to help assign the trailer ratings. One of the criteria in establishing the GCW is "launchability" up a 16% grade. You have to be able to get that mass moving. K
