Any tricks to getting your SB doors to close easier?

Greased? Yuck. Find the recent thread post by @WFarm. Or any other host of them. Cliffs notes, unless your hinges are worn or sacked or other obvious damage or misalignment, a new bushing in the striker and shimming the bottom hinge up slightly to keep from dragging on the strike does...

    fuel line clamps

No issue with properly fitting spring clamps IMO. They are widely used in OE applications for low pressure hose connections like carb fuel lines and coolant lines. Only time they don’t work well IMO is if the rubber hose is older and hardened or taken a set from being clamped previously. Thats...

Lotsa nice squares on CL out here right now!

Totally agree. If I didn’t check myself my driveway and yard would look like @bucket lol! As it is got 2 squares and a CJ5, none of which are necessary for any of my transportation needs.

    Rough country lift

Ya I dont air em down to where steering handling is affected, but braking is better with a soft tire. As is wet and snow traction. Potato pototo.

Lotsa nice squares on CL out here right now!

Yet even as a cherry looking, great condition 2wd Burb, it apparently won’t even fetch $5800 in 3 months. I gave more for the 77 Big 10 with a body seemingly in much worse condition and only got it because I acted quick. Burbs are an absolute squarebody bargain if yer into them. Because most...

    Rough country lift

I’ll add that of course if either truck had stock size pizza cutters on them, those low pressures suitable for the big tires would not apply. Example, my F1shitty work truck, CC 4wd, stock little tires, summer I run about 45/35 cold. And of course half tons, the TPmS idiot light doesn’t start...

    Rough country lift

I should have been clearer in that I’m talking empty truck bed and the Cummins is on 37s. Many people don’t understand safe minimum load vs tire pressure. But if you look at the attached chart (same for virtually every brand/model of tire as load cap is a function of tire size/sidewall...

Lotsa nice squares on CL out here right now!

Fresh 700r4 TBI, air con works, 6” lift and the interior is decent with the typical worn driver seat. Looks super straight and not beat on or beat up. Nice rig And an ugly monstrous rear bumper.

    Rough country lift

^Mine are 20s and very heavy sidewall so they are still pretty stiff. Not squishy in the corners at all. Crew cab diesel I run about 40f/30r.

    Rough country lift

Yup. Same. These trucks are fairly lightweight compared to big new trucks and tires are made with hella load capacity when you get into the bigger sizes. The 35s on the K20 are 25-30psi front and 20-25psi rear. Bout as low as I like for highway driving. And still handle great.

    REDS NECK REPARES!~

On a similar note, been awhile since I cobbed hard on an old squarebody truck brake pedal. But I drove the 77 to work one day. Approaching an intersection during rush hour with red light cameras. Car in front of me gave er the beans and I realized it would be a red light ticket served by a cop...

    REDS NECK REPARES!~

Clean up the pads and drums and run er until it gums up again. Or disable the back brakes. Both sound silly unless it’s your only daily driver. In which case So you have to drive this and are good with basically half brakes? I guess as long as you’re not relying on other drivers not cause you...

Headed to Colorado for the weekend, im stationed in South Dakota, what are things I should look out for/do before I head out? (1985 6.2, 4L60E)

Maybe check the spark plugs and muffler bearings? Top off blinker fluid. Btw nice Blazer!

Stock Cold air intake performance upgrades

Ain’t no air cleaner mods going to help a 160hp when it was new 40 years ago 305. I’d be happy all the OE stuff is in tact and keep it that way. Those ESC 305s get real finicky when you start messin with them. And yes that snorkel and air cleaner would work on a mild 454. You’re not getting...

WTF is happening to this forum? Between this and the hydraulic trailer brake drivel….. It’s like someone at the nuthouse handed out iPads to the patients an and they had GMSB forum loaded on the front screen!

Uhhhh, I guess welcome? 4 months ago…. You couldn’t have picked a more open ended question for your into post. Not sure where to go with “suggestions” don’t know what might need to be suggested with no other context than the vehicle you own and the location of the future road trip. (The 2nd...

    Old77’s GMT400 SWB 4x4 5-speed project/DD

Great platform! Back in the day and even further back in the day I had 2 different gmt400 350 5speed 4x4s. Still 2 of my favorite trucks ever. Tough as nails, quite comfortable and roomy (compared to squares), last forever and cheap and easy to work on. Nice find!

What have you done to your square lately??

Another little easy trick is, if your striker is actively dragging on the door latch (the flat shiny spot on the top), assuming your hinges are in good condition (which I’m sure they are on that beauty blazer), just shim out the bottom door hinge slightly. You won’t notice anything different in...

    1" ORD body lift

Yes they’re safe. They have a pin and bolt thru the leaf pack. Like adding a big fat leaf spring that’s only 4” long or whatever. I put them on this truck. (Just slapped them in stock axle location because the truck is currently a pavement princess and with the now approx 5” of lift the front...

    1" ORD body lift

maybe Consider moving the front axle forward with ORD zero rate blocks. Think it’ll help the same or more than 1” of body lift. But your wheel offset makes a difference too. More neg offset = less front tire clearance when turning.

1978 vs. 1988-1994 steering wheel bolt pattern

    84 K10 full exhaust replacement

Cancel the rough country order and get some softer springs so that you're not caller #69 in 2 weeks asking us if theres a way to make those lumber wagon springs softer.

    Rough country lift

This seems to be a topic frequently here recently. Shocks can’t make springs softer. Tire pressure affects ride of course. If you got more air in the tires than you need it ain’t helping.
