    Bucket buddy seats

I remember there used to be a member on 67-72chevytrucks.com that had the user name of "stitch". I *think* that Stitch Upholstery was their business name? It may be worth looking into there.

    Which dually - 8.1 vs pre-DEF 6.6?

It's a two way street here. Anyone with this opinion has little to no experience with an 8.1L. And I am someone that has DEFINITELY spend A LOT of time towing heavy loads with a Duramax. An 8.1 is not to be compared with a GM 6.0 or a Ford 6.2 or an Dodge whatever they put in those things. I'm...

    8 lug slots...?

I really wish they made those wheels back when I bought my Classic III's in 16x12.

    Dually Rims

Ford and Dodge wheels have a slightly larger center bore, iirc. The GM dually wheels are hub centric, so you would need center bore spacers with the Ford or Dodge wheels.

    Exhaust Question

I'd pick option #3, but then register it properly after your LS swap, if you find yourself driving it well outside the limits of the antique tag. Probably cheaper than doing the exhaust twice.

Those 305 heads were likely chosen to get the compression up a bit.

    Finally got a running 65 C10

Looks like DK is '63 or older, with 2bbl and automatic. There should be a date code on the block, if you want to narrow it down. What is the head casting #? They are later heads, with accessory holes. Any cross hatching still visible in the cylinders?

I need a throttle body and cable from a late 90's truck or van with a Vortec 454.

    Vortec 8100/8.1L Oil Pan

I need an oil pan for an '01-up 8.1 big block, along with the oil pickup tube. I need the regular truck and van style of pan with the big notch in it, as opposed to the marine and medium duty style of pan.

    Finally got a running 65 C10

A complete running 5.3 and trans for 1500 is way cheaper than most areas, or at least the areas I've been in. But even with that, I'm assuming it's a 20 year old engine with high miles on it, and probably with a cobbled junkyard harness. That doesn't necessarily scream reliability. I understand...

    Finally got a running 65 C10

That's not it at all. In your first post, you talked about the best bang for your buck to make it reliable. Anyone that has done or seen an LS swap done properly knows that it's not cheap at all and MUCH more involved than sticking with a basic small block. Therefore the best bang for the buck...

    Which dually - 8.1 vs pre-DEF 6.6?

The early 8.1's did have a reputation of using oil. I knew a guy that bought a new one in '02, he said it used a quart in about 2000 miles, iirc. The dealer told him that using less than a quart every 1k was "acceptable".

    1964 Chevy ll ls1/t56 swap

Personally, I'd save cosmetic bodywork and paintwork for last. Just do the underside surgery first and put it all together and get everything gapped and fitting well. Then do the engine and drivetrain. The reason being that it's hard not to screw up the body and paint while doing all the...

    Which dually - 8.1 vs pre-DEF 6.6?

Oh, I forgot to elaborate on the finicky Duramax PCM thing. I have no idea how many times I've been pulling a load down the highway and I've lost all power and had to pull off the side of the road, clear random fault codes, then get back along my way. It's always some stupid pidly little...

    Which dually - 8.1 vs pre-DEF 6.6?

What is the torque rating on the 6.6? I have done A LOT of heavy towing with '03, '05, '06 and '07 Duramaxes. They pull good and they are relatively reliable. Fuel mpg in the real world is NOT what all the diesel guys brag about. They have a very finicky pcm and can cause some very annoying...

Lol, I can't keep track of which car or truck has which engine. So you've got the engine that was in your dad's truck and you've got the gold engine from your K10. And then that long block that I brought down to you. What's the current status?

The older heads used a larger spark plug. The change happened in '70 I think.
