What have you done to your square lately??

I once had a '79 K5 with the 250 under the hood. One day on the interstate, I decided to see how fast it would go. Once it got upwards of 80 mph or so, it started puffing smoke into the interior, through the rust holes in the floor. From that day on, the rear main seal leaked profusely. It ended...

    Rear glass sash rubber

I feel like my post went unnoticed, lol. Urethane kills two birds with one stone. Not only does it hold the window to the sash permanently, but it also helps eliminate the reason that the sash rusted to begin with. Yeah, RTV may work ok, but I wouldn't expect it to last as long as I plan on...

Why can’t I post wheels for sale?

Nah, it's alright. The distance makes it not worthwhile, but you may have someone local that would want it. I've got a very small collection of original spares that I find to be very cool anymore. I've got a couple Tiger Paws too.

    New to me, 2004 Avalanche

Damn, I came in here with hopes of a 2500! But really, any Avalanche is cool. I certainly wouldn't turn one down.

1977-78 door trim accent piece - Western Scroll

I've only ever seen one other Burb with the Mystic interior. It was also the red secondary color. It's sitting in a private junkyard along Iowa 92, between Oskaloosa and Osceola.

Why can’t I post wheels for sale?

I'm betting original. The date code pre-'00 did not include the decade. The 29th week of '89 is likely.

    87 TBI 350

I installed long tubes on mine, with the sensor in the collector. I ran it like that for a couple years. Then I switched to a heated sensor. The only change was it went into closed loop a little faster. That was it. No change in driveability. No change in power. No change in mpg.

    305 tbi heads on a 350 tbi?

When on a super tight budget I'm normally all for a set of ported 305 heads on a 350... but that's with a lazy, low compression 70's or early 80's 350. With a TBI 350, I wouldn't do it. They aren't a lazy engine at all and I don't think there would be any gains on the low end.

Why can’t I post wheels for sale?

What size, make and model was the original spare? Did you save it? There's wackadoos out there (such as myself) that like to save those things.

    Anybody buy from OBStrucksparts.org?

There's a bunch of used parts on there for sale too. The new interior stuff and description says 100% scam. But some other stuff to me just says it's some guy trying to operate a business with a terrible website.

1977-78 door trim accent piece - Western Scroll

That's a rare interior color right there, for a Suburban. It's not too awful hard to find the two toned "mystic" interiors in a pickup, it's a little less common in a K5, but downright scarce in a Suburban.

    Towing with an old truck

Yes, you must be sure that everything is in good serviceable condition and up to the task. As for the terrain, I still don't see the need for weight distribution with an appropriate truck. The long and heavy loads that I mentioned earlier with the modern work trucks isn't just flatlander Ohio...

    1988 Camaro

I could just be remembering wrong. I haven't worked on any of those early ones in probably 15 years. It was definitely a '93 though. I was there with my dad when he bought it. It had 6 miles on it when we left Dennis Pontiac in Columbus. Damn... that was 32 years ago. I still remember it like...

Why can’t I post wheels for sale?

Yes, I understand completely. That's why I said to go ahead and post pictures of the wheels. Figured it would help get the posts up. The whole reason the 50 post thing came along was to prevent scammers from joining and "selling" items that they had no intentions of actually sending. It...

    Towing with an old truck

Maybe so? If it goes well enough, stops safe enough and doesn't take much effort to keep it between the ditches, then I'm comfortable. I can definitely be uncomfortable though. It's happened several times with off-brand drive tires.

    1988 Camaro

The car ran like a scalded rabbit when the engine was cool and was still fun enough when fully warmed up. It ran two belts. When the car was about 10 years old, I replaced the coupler in the supercharger snout and replaced the stinky oil.

    Towing with an old truck

I guess I just don't understand then. I've pulled the same loads I described earlier with dually trucks and also C4500's. It's not much different. I've pulled upwards of 14k on single tandems with single wheel squarebodies and have been perfectly comfortable. Some of those loads have had a...

    Towing with an old truck

So you are saying that a weight distribution setup helps with sway? I thought the whole point in it was to get weight off the rear axle and onto the front axle? The only time I ever see any type of weight distribution setup, it's on a camper being towed by a lighter capacity rig.

    Towing with an old truck

Yeah, it's very tongue heavy. But what does the surface contact area of the trailer tires have to do with weight distribution? With all else being equal (tongue weight, axle spread, trailer length, etc) the truck itself doesn't know the difference if the trailer has duals or singles.

    Towing with an old truck

I don't have any pictures of the normal type haul, just this light one. Trailer weighs 9800 empty. Pictured load is only around 7k I'd guess. Usually there's 12k worth of telehandler on there or something similar. It pulls perfectly fine without weight distribution.

    1988 Camaro

Dad bought a brand new supercharged Bonneville in '93 and it had factory-installed wipers with spoilers on them. They were even painted body color, lol. I still have them, but I don't know where to get wiper refills anymore.
