    1987 R10: TH400 to 200-4R swap (mostly wiring??)

The computer won’t care if the kickdown wire is disconnected. Somewhere there is a switch on the carb or throttle that sends power to the kickdown solenoid. I think on some of the later trucks the computer sends a signal to a relay which disengaged the A/C compressor and energizes the kickdown...

    1987 R10: TH400 to 200-4R swap (mostly wiring??)

Look up TCC wiring for a 700 swap. The TCC works and installs in basically the same way on a 200R4, the pressure switch is obviously in a different location on the valve body.

A Technical Comedy [Only After the Fact]

Friend of mine locked his keys in the ignition in his Chevelle. He crawled under the car, pushed off the sheetmetal he had covering the hole in the floor, reached up and pulled them out of the ignition. Many years ago, I attended the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise in Detroit. Dumbass me left...

    Overheating 87 TBI

How hot does it actually get? Put a real gauge on it, and see what happens. You may be pleasantly surprised. When does it overheat? Idle? Going down the road? Are all the factory rubber baffles/gaskets/seals around the radiator in place? Any air that goes around the radiator instead of...

Update on my Ignition Module failure!

Nope, you’re not nuts!!! I do the same thing. Unfortunately, my supply has almost vanished, and they aren’t in salvage yards anymore. I’d rather have a good used 20 year old Delco module than the crap they are selling at the stores today.

    TH400 Yoke Bolt Came Out

    Then you should be good.

    TH400 Yoke Bolt Came Out

You need a washer also. It needs to fit well to the register inside the yoke. Technically, all the bolt does is keep the yoke in place, and to prevent transmission fluid from seeping between the splines of the output shaft and yoke.

    Column wiring harness need help

Here is a wiring diagram from a 87 G body, should be very close to what you need.

    TH400 Yoke Bolt Came Out

I just tossed a handful of those bolts last week. Bummer. I would think as long as there is no other damage, replace the bolt, and either the complete housing or the bushing and seal and relax. Put some loctite on the bolt and properly torque it.

    Wiring Harness? Choosing one?

Agreed! Even if you’re starting from scratch, you could buy a couple good used harnesses and build one far cheaper.

Need help wiring power windows and door locks 83 K1500

If your referring to the relay I suggested, just about any GM car or truck 1990ish and newer will have one. Sometimes they are in the door jamb area, behind the glove box, it shouldn’t be hard to find one.

Truck cranks and starts and dies immediately

Since you have HEI, the BEST way to wire it is to find the original resistance wire and remove it. Then you can install a regular wire in the original spot and eliminate the ignition bypass wiring and extra connections at the fuse box. You need a Series 56 male terminal, a couple bucks from...

    headlight/seat belt buzzer

I don’t remember the RPO code, but the blue chime module is the holy grail. That’s the one that doesn’t just sound an alarm, it has a Speak N Spell type voice that tells you the key is in the ignition, the door is ajar, the lights are on, trunk open, etc. Those modules were found in Cadillacs...

    4l60 swap

What PCM does the truck have to control the LS? Before doing anything, make sure the PCM won’t control a transmission. If do, definitely use a 4L60e. That will solve the TV cable issue, and allow you to dial in the shift points and converter lockup exactly where you want them

    Carb rebuilders?

John Herald Jr Ray Kleem there are several others on the Q-Jet Facebook page. I know Ray and Cliff worked together, I think Ray took over the rebuilding when Cliff retired.

    Pumping Air to a Catalyst

The temp switch automatically locks the converter if it gets too hot. The theory is a locked converter will reduced heat. Of course, by the time the transmission is hot enough to trip that switch, the damage is probably already done.

    headlight/seat belt buzzer

I think the difference is for seat belt warning. There is a trigger wire for the seat belt switch in the seat belt latch, and another wire that is an output for the seat belt warning lamp in the dash.

    headlight/seat belt buzzer

The easiest way to disable the key warning is to unscrew the door jamb switch, and disconnect and tape off whatever wire isn’t white. If I remember correctly, the wire for the key is tan. Problem solved.

    I’m buying a lottery ticket!!

Over the winter, my son and I have been fixing/updating some severely neglected things on his 92 Yukon. Things like replacing the crumbling dash, the falling headliner, rebuilding the suspension, installing a lift kit, installing heated back glass/mirrors, power seat, etc. One of the big items...

    headlight/seat belt buzzer

I’m curious, why do people despise them? I get it, the key in the ignition chime is annoying, but the headlight warning would be worth the inconvenience. On a related subject, it’s easy enough to disable the key warning, while leaving the other chimes functional.

    Pumping Air to a Catalyst

GM warmed the converters in the most reliable way at the time. Meaning they calibrated a cold start with increased idle speed, delayed the converter clutch from locking until the engine reached a certain temp, all to keep engine rpm higher. They use the same strategy now, except the disable...

    TH350 Removal

If your going to add a plug, drill a small hole where your going to install the plug and let it drain that way. Much cleaner that way.

If the trans has a drain plug, use it! If it doesn’t have a plug, now would be the ideal time to install one!!

    Accelerator Cable Adjustment

How about some pictures of what you’re working on? What carb/intake, are you using? It might be quicker and easier to just buy the correct brackets instead of trying to engineer what you need. Basically you need the resting position of the cable to move away from the throttle arm on the carb...
