    Drag Link - Modern Build

Take a hike Bucket. You are an *******....don't respond again. I don't care what problem you have with me. Your attitude is **** for a moderator. Gee did I piss you off about HEIM joints? SOOO Sorry. I don't care what I came off like and who the hell you think you are. You are not the source of...

    Drag Link - Modern Build

Ya PD, your right. Why use any new tech on a 78 truck. Just use as is tech and standard stuff right? Listen to bucket cause he knows. Well, if he wasn't an ass about it we may have chatted. I don't care for ********. I also don't care to do something because" that's what we have always done." I...

    Drag Link - Modern Build

Don't assume what I want to hear Bucket. Your opinion isn't necessary either. The negativity spewing out of you now shows me you just a jerk. Ive seen you do this often here and its not appreciated. DO me a favor and keep your damn opinion to yourself. You have neither offered any proof of the...

    Drag Link - Modern Build

I agree with crossover, except I only have a 2 inch lift. ORD, WFO and everything I've read say you need more lift. SO, we stay with drag link. As for the expense, dom tube was 7 bucks, HEIM 35, coupler 11. So no, not expensive and it was a good time designing and researching the needs for this.

    Drag Link - Modern Build

So about a month ago I posted a string here about a drag link. This is a modern option to the clunky Chevy design on all Squarebodys. Well, did some thinking, came up with a design, and ordered parts from RuffStuff. I now have a functional NEW drag link that will work with my 78 Scottsdale 4x4...

    I've come here to complain!

There is some alternate dimension...some black hole that has approximately 40% of all my purchased tools, nuts, bolts, and socks. I now save the "repurchase" button on amazon.

    I've come here to complain!

Im rebuilding everything. I was thinking yesterday what would be the first thing I found wrong, or broke, or put together incorrectly when I do my first drive. I shudder to think of the possibilities.

Scratching noise from the steering column when driving [Video]

Does the sound speed up as you do? If so look at the cable that is connected to the Speedometer. It may need some lube.

What have you done to your square lately??

Cut the pieces.....kinda, and welded in the pans. I did it in three pieces cause I work on databases for a living and not steel. It worked out fine though. Just spot welding on part at a time. A little heat here and there and for the most part she's together. I have issues to overcome but for my...

    1978 Scottsdale Drag Link Question

Good Morning, So I was looking at the old drag link from my Scottsdale yesterday and though to myself why use old tech for this draglink? Its ugly as hell and uses old ball joints. So my brain started to churn and I thought about using 3/4" Heim joints along with some safety inserts and some...

    New K20 owner!

I just did everything you are speaking of a week ago. I would definitely take off the steering arm because it makes it easier to access the knuckle while pressing the ball joints in. I had to put my ball joint tool in a vice and its kinda hard to rotate as is. Knuckle is heavy too so its just...

    Here we go

I'm doing the floor pans in my 78 Scottsdale 4x4 as we speak. I have to be honest, the hardest part about tearing down a truck to rebuild is all the CLEANING!! Grease and dirt build up on axles and frame for 44 years is just a bear to get rid of. My cordless drill and a wire wheel have become my...

    Heim Joint Hardware

Recently I purchased a drag link setup from WFO Offroad. I received all the parts in a box for the Heim Joint hardware except for two pieces. I have no idea what they're called and was wondering if anyone here knew what they were called. I will post pics below. Note: WFO has done this to me...

    Metal prep for frame

I've used por15 many times. The process they want to use is a bit awkward and time consuming. First their degreaser which they insist must be rinsed with water, then their zinc. Now the zinc needs to stay wet on the item being painted for 20 minutes! Try keeping a large part wet that long. You...

    1976 GMC K15 "Clyde "

Welcome from the Old Pueblo Tucson, AZ! My 78 Scottsdale 4x4 rode like a dang tank as well. She's going through a major overhaul right now and my next target is the front suspension. ORD or Offroad Design sells "custom springs" that use thinner spring coils but more of them. Many say the ride...
