1986 ECM control torque convertor lockup?

Look at the wires coming out of the transmission-(700r4) If one of them is Purple I believe it uses the ECM. 1st image is ECM & 2nd image is without

    Unusual radio issue

Crud - I really thought it was going to be the radio.. Since I don't know how you disconnected the radio, I'll mention my next idea. Did you check the connectors. The red & yellow wires are next to each other. If they were touching that would allow constant power to bleed over to accessory...

    Unusual radio issue

@Matt69olds Do you think its back feeding through the radio - like a bad diode or something? What happens if you pull the inline fuse out of the yellow wire (battery feed for memory) Just to test it- that way the radio is getting no power at all once it is switched off.

    Unusual radio issue

Just thinking out loud... The radio itself- Could the battery power wire be using the accessory power wire as a potential weak ground when the car is off? Pulling the fuse or touching it would disrupt it. Meaning it's a radio defect and/or a better ground would possibly take care of the...

    Unusual radio issue

@Turbo4whl I can only speak for mine, but Retro has two 12v wires running to the radio for power. On my 85 k10 - One is the original yellow wire running to the fuse box (Radio fuse) -Retro changes it to red. This is the accessory power. The other wire is spliced to the cigarette lighter feed...

    Unusual radio issue

I just assumed it was a small capacitor in the radio that gave the few seconds of power while shutting down. I know very little about radios though. My initial thought is it is something wrong with the radio- I keep thinking about how the radio has two 12volt wires going to it and if the...

    Unusual radio issue

I put a retro sound in my truck a few months ago. First day, same thing happened as you- radio stayed on with key off. Hasn't happened since though... Be interested in what you find... Update- Now you got me thinking about this. Since it hadn't happened since (& only once) I didn't give it...

    Cargo and Dome not working

Well that’s definitely the orange wire that goes to the dome light. See where it meets the white wires. That is where the dome white wire is spliced to the one from the door switch running to the courtesy light. If you have a volt meter I would check to see if orange wire has power. Without...

    Cargo and Dome not working

The one in your hand plugs into fuse box- ( plugs at blue arrow in pic of my other post). I can see where it meets the white wires and heads to dome light. The other two should plug together leaving one connector hanging by itself.

    Cargo and Dome not working

What is this orange wire that is unplugged? That might actually be the dome light feed. (should feed clock and dome) -should plug in at blue arrow

    Cargo and Dome not working

Does the courtesy light work? The courtesy uses an orange wire that runs to the light switch then the fuse box (the ctsy fuse). The dome light uses a different orange wire to feed it. -it is usually plugged into the front top of the fuse box (by batt ) Like mentioned earlier- both the...

More help please on CS TO SI

That is what I believe - you should be good as long as a PO didn't mess with the BRN/WHT wire. However, if your CS alternator has PLIS connection, you could just move the yellow (BRN) wire over to the "I" slot. -Then it wouldn't matter either way. Updated Info: SI and CS requirement looks...

More help please on CS TO SI

I went through the resistor issue also a year ago with my SI alt. I don't have an idiot light. I didn't realize the BRN wire becomes BRN/WHI (which is a resistance wire) with gauges.

More help please on CS TO SI

The terminals on a CS are PLFS or PLIS. which do you have? The Ac delco PT2145 should work, but you might have to move the yellow wire over one depending on the alternator's terminals & setup. EDITED: After looking at the adapter again- It should work no matter what. It appears to have...

Headlights on= No Turns, Headlights off= Turns

Good luck, be sure to let us know what you find. Your issue is definitely strange. 9 times out of 10 light issues are usually a bad socket, ground, or bad/wrong bulb. So everything works correctly until you pull the headlight switch?

Headlights on= No Turns, Headlights off= Turns

Did you check the bulbs and sockets. Every light that shows a turn signal also has running lights. (side markers, front park/dir lights, brake lights) Any one of those places the brown wire (running light) could be touching a turn signal wire whether it is a bad bulb or socket. First place...

    Hot wire junction block

yeah, I got side tracked trying to remember where one of the red wires off my junction block ran to. Finally had to go look- Went to the A/C blower relay. As mentioned earlier the junction block is there to make it easy to add accessories. A few other possible ones could be...

This Image will allow you to trace all the red wires off the junction block. But it depends on the year etc.. most are very similar though. This diagram is from an 86.

    Hot wire junction block

Most auto stores- rockauto.com has big selection or you can buy fusible link wire and make your own. Fusible links are usually 4 gage sizes smaller than circuit it is protecting. example: 10 awg circuit would have a 14 awg fusible link

    Hot wire junction block

Just a side note: Originally some of those wires had fusible links going to the junction block. If they are gone you might want to add them back.
