    Best fitting big block headers?

Alright thanks, I'll have to look into those and see if it's something he likes. It is his choice after all. He was talking about getting those summit brand headers cause they are cheap. They could be good but they could also be bad.

    Best fitting big block headers?

I know where there is a set for 70-72 chevelle but I don't think they will clear the floor boards. I was thinking a set of those summit brand headers. I think they are like $130. I was reading and there's only a few reviews on them but what had me wondering is why they where all perfect reviews...

    Best fitting big block headers?

Hey guys question here, what are the best fitting big block headers? It's for a 85 chevy suburban 2wd. It's for my brothers truck so I'm trying to help him locate a set that fit without having to be hammered to hell and back. We arnt picky on them being ceramic coated but we do want full length...

    going to carberater from tbi

Well I say zero so he knows to stab it in on the zero mark on the timing cover then adjust the distributor at normal. Like starting with the vacuum advance pointing at number 4 cylinder. At least that's how I always learned to do timing on small blocks. Then I always adjusted till it was right...

Oh ok. I will just pop that plug out and adjust idle. Should I put it at any specific number or just guess and she what it does

    thinkin bout a motor swap..

@TJ I'm glad you got your 79 figured out. If I was you and this is my own opinion I would check the voltages you get off the alternator and ignition switch and various places to make sure your not also getting a voltage spike. I would also check all grounds and hots to make sure they all have...

    going to carberater from tbi

I have thought long and hard about swapping from tbi to carb. We did it on my brothers 88 suburban and I was going to do it to mine but I'm just going to exhaust all possibilities with my tbi first. But this is what you will need to do. You need to separate all charging wires from ecu...

    Tbi to carb.

Hey Jims86 I haven't been on in a couple days got busy doing stuff. Yes I do have a tach, it's an autogage 8000rpm. Man that sounds to be pretty complicated stuff just for an idle fix. I'll try to give it a shot though. I mean worst comes to worst I just undo everything and go carbureted I know...

    cam and carburator question

Is it a 400 big block or 400 small block? If it's a big block then the carb should be fine but if it's small block then it will over load itself. Only time Ive seen an 750 do fine on a small block is when it's going all out, daily driving it over loads and chokes unless you detune the crap out...

    Tbi to carb.

You think turning up the idle will fix the idle surging problem? It's not an all the time thing. It's only every now and then it will do it.

    Tbi to carb.

Ok I'll put the egr back on and test it while it's runny I never heard of it so no biggy I'll give it a shot. And it's not a stock cam but it is a stock rv style camshaft. I got it off of northern auto it's for the "k" series truck the website said it is computer compatible

    Tbi to carb.

@jims86, I haven't opened the distributor yet to check the magnet thing yet. I'm talking to my brother about snagging the egr off his old suburban motor (same year and same model of truck) it's just a spare motor that's sitting around cause he's got a 40 over 350 in it. So I'm going to try his...

    thinkin bout a motor swap..

With the 87 blocks they use a one piece oil pan gasket so he does have a better advantage than the other years. And they sell these kick-ass plastic things that screw into the corner four holes to hold the gasket up and you can slip the oil pan up on them too so you have both hands free to put...

    Edelbrock Performer-Plus camshaft kit reviews?

Well the intake you showed was for a tbi so the cam won't be too choppy no matter what you got. I'm not completely sure on what you plan on doing with your motor. There are people that convert those intakes to accepting a two barrel Holley so they can stay in certain motor classes. I'm not...

    Edelbrock Performer-Plus camshaft kit reviews?

I personally never used a edlebrock camshaft in any of my motors. I have rebuilt a couple for friends and family using an edlebrock cam and I wasent impressed by the sound or power gain from it. I am a Lunati fan but I like the choppy idle. Edlebrock performer intake is the BEST dual plane...

    Shaking While Stopping??

Have you went and had the front rotors turned or replaced yet? I couldn't find if you said you have or not. If not I bet the problem is there. I've seen a lot of trucks get warped rotors from just daily driving.

    thinkin bout a motor swap..

@driver, yes I know the big block Chevys intake is the same but with an adapter but he doesn't have a big block. His first post said 350 with 700r4, same power train as me. A tbi intake is different from a carbureted intake. Everything is in the same locations except where a 4barrel carb will go...

    Tbi to carb.

I got to play with the truck today and I was testing the egr valve. The solenoid has 37.8 ohms so that's good and it holds vacuum on it but the egr won't hold a vacuum. I used a mityvac and it won't pull vacuum on it. It just leaks down right away as if nothing is hooked to it. I pulled the egr...

    thinkin bout a motor swap..

@Irishman what about egr? @Driver yes he may be able to use the 79 heads if he modifies the tbi intake, I agree with that 100%. If he does do the intake swap using the 4barrel intake with a tbi he might run into the problem of it not having enough manifold pressures to allow the tbi to work...

    thinkin bout a motor swap..

@Tj79 what kind of ignition problems are you having? Does it run good then when it warms up it won't start again? Is it HEI or points? Maybe we could help you figure out what's wrong with your 79 so you have a reliable truck while the 87 is down

    thinkin bout a motor swap..

In order to put the 79 engine in your 87 you must use the cylinder heads, intake, throttle body, valve overs, camshaft, and distributor etc. etc. out of the 87 truck. Your best bet would be to fix whatever ignition issues your having with the 79 and then doing what thunder said and rolling in a...

    Radiator Question

If you get the one from the parts store with the plastic tanks it will drop in and button up just fine. How many rows in the core is up to you on what you plan to do or use the truck for. The more rows the better IF you are able to fit it in the fan shroud. If it don't fit right and it's to...

    Tbi to carb.

Ouch that's not good... Unless your a fish. Lol the gauge only reads up to 15PSI. I was going to snag it off a tunnelrammed motor(avatar pic) but you said it has to read efi pressures? Ain't fuel pressure all the same? That's how I always knew it. The only problems I expect to have with the...

    thinkin bout a motor swap..

You will need the heads and intake off the tbi motor. And the camshaft because tbi motors have a specific camshaft grinds. I'm going through a lot of problems with my tbi system right now but that's cause I have a rv cam in my truck but don't be discouraged on the tbi. The heads and intake are...
