    Largest tire in Suburban?

I'm about 90% positive that it has 3.42 or 3.43 in it. I'm wondering if 32x11.50 will fit on a 3/4ton 2wd. They do fit on the 1/2ton 2wd. I would imagine the 3/4 ton would have slightly more room because the heavier rated springs but they also have an additional 300 more pounds from the big...

    Suspension rebuild

Moog it is then. Lol. So what about the load carrier shocks? Any opinion on how well they work? And the leaf spring bushings are they all the same size?

    Largest tire in Suburban?

I believe it has the 3.43 in it. 14bolt full float 8 lug. 454 big block with 400 automatic transmission

    Suspension rebuild

So Moog is a good plan then. I'll have to check Rock auto prices. Summit racing has better prices than any local part store

    Suspension rebuild

My truck sits prettily level. It actually doesn't even have the typical saggy diaper look most suburbans get. I'm sure the springs are tired but they can't be too bad for only having 140,000 miles. I don't want to replace springs unless I have to. I'd rather just hope the load carriers will make...

    Largest tire in Suburban?

I'm not sure. I always remember it being 31x10.50. But maybe 3/4 ton is different for some reason.

    Suspension rebuild

Hey guys. I'm looking into rebuilding the front end of my 1/2ton 88 2wd suburban. I'm also going to be replacing leaf spring bushings as they are rotted almost completely out. Are all the leaf spring bushings the same or are they different sizes? I will be replacing ball joints tierods pitman...

    Largest tire in Suburban?

Thanks for the quick response. I was figuring it would be like the other trucks but wasent sure because of it being a suburban. My suburban has 32-11.50-r15 but it's a 1/2ton. It scrubs a little in the front but only sometimes and these tires are about 1/2 tread left. Just don't want to buy...

    Largest tire in Suburban?

If anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it. What is the largest factory tire option in 1985 for the 2wd 3/4ton suburban with the Steel wheels? And what is the largest tire I can run with the steel wheels at stock ride height without scrubbing? I know the rim is 16in but I don't know how...

Suburban with front and rear A/C

Thank you so much! I will refer back to this when I get up the cash to do it. Stuff is so dang expensive. Lol

Suburban with front and rear A/C

I won't be doing this any time soon as cash is the killer part of this. I found out it holds 94 ounces of freon (ouch on the wallet) but the PAG oil has several different kinds. Which one would be the better one to use? I seen on another forum someone said 11oz of PAG oil. Is it bad to have too...

Suburban with front and rear A/C

I have a 88 gmc 1500 suburban with front and rear A/C and it also has the smaller (pancake) style compressor. It is currently R-12 freon but whenever I get the cash up it will be converted to R-134 freon. The system doesn't work right now and not sure what's wrong with it. It might not have any...

    6x9 speakers

That's a good idea leaving the extra wire for tunes outside the truck.
  15. 72chevy2door

    Weird issues with charging system.

That's understandable. If I remember correctly the dash speakers are 3 1/2" and the rear speakers on all trucks and suburbans are 4x8 or something like that. There is a thread on this forum that says what they are. It's in the stereo section. Is what I plan on doing to my suburban is adding two...

    rebuilding stock a/c

A/c compressor plug on my suburban was black and green wires. It only had two wires the black was a ground and had a ring terminal on the end and the green wire lead into a wire harness that I assumed went to the control panel. That's about all I could help you with, sorry. I wish I could get...

    U joints

They are all just about fine. I used a set of autozone house brand around ten years ago in my dad's suburban and they lasted till about a year ago. He towed with it and everything. Plus it was a 3/4 ton so it hauled a lot of butt around. They where the grease able type but once they got put in...

    6x9 speakers

I knew a guy that had 6x9's in his truck with the boxes. Instead of screwing them to the back of the truck he took Velcro strips and glued them to the box on the bottom and backs and then used the other side of Velcro on the truck itself and they never moved. He never wanted to drill any extra...

    Weird issues with charging system.

Congrats on getting the voltage problem fixed:waytogo: Now for the stereo "whine" that you have it could be that the head unit is just simply worn out. I had a old head unit do that. Was the damnedest thing cause I figured it was the wiring but I replaced head unit and it was all fixed. But if...

    Weird issues with charging system.

if it's an aftermarket stereo or aftermarket speakers it could be because someone ran the 12v wire too close to the speaker wires. Newer aftermarket stereos are more sensitive to the "road noise" or the "whine". Such as if someone put an amp with subwoofers in their vehicle and ran the RCA...

    Power window mod on suburban?

I had taken the pictures after I took the door panel off and when I looked in the door they where pretty nasty. Dried up crusty grease. I suppose gm used cheap grease. The rollers are in really good shape though. I want to do the power window mod in the suburban so I'm hoping one of you wiring...

Here's after I unplugged it off the door panel. It's lettered hopefully y'all can read it

    Power window mod on suburban?

I pulled off the driver back door panel to clean and grease the tracks the best I can. And this is the plug on it. Not sure what's 12v or what goes to the motor as it's all wrapped in tape and you can't but barely get a look in the door itself.
