What have you done to your square lately??

Grease-able shackles and new shocks.Had leaf spring out in 15 minutes. It’s the old bushings in the spring eyes that take a bit.Drilling holes has always worked well,in other things in life as well.Anyway, much beefier components than factory.

Well, the cross member is gonna depend on what transfercase you use? What year the case and adapter is.

    Cleaning differential

I guess it could also be a thrust washer out of the differential. Is that a stock differential?

    Cleaning differential

If you have a way to spray gas,it will clean it up real well.Otherwise use expensive brake clean.Probably about 5-6 cans. That piece of metal looks like an oil slinger to me,off the pinion..Not sure what else it’d be.It’s a pinion shim, but also retains oil for the pinion bearings, not letting...

What have you done to your square lately??

Man,that’s the pits.Use a dremel with a cut off wheel and cut the nut.One side should be sufficient to relieve the torque. It will be a bit tedious, but take your time so you you don’t cut the shaft. Wear eye protection

    Chevy kingpin Dana 60, SRW

Ya it is crazy.I acquired a 1982 GMC cab and chassis, complete, with a Dana 60,Dual 14 bolt and fixed yoke 205,not running for 500$ in 2009. But that was then and this is now.

    Chevy kingpin Dana 60, SRW

As good as they are, they can be bent, king pins damaged, scored housing, cracked out plug welds on tubes, bent or collapsed driver spring perch. I would look it over with a microscope.Pull the cover off.

    Chevy kingpin Dana 60, SRW

Honestly,I’d keep it.I’ve had 4 GM Dana 60s in my 20 year 4x4 career. The last one I got was really hard to find and cost 900$ I put another 1200$ in bearings, brakes, rotors, hubs, kingpin parts, and ring&pinion, plus my time. Also,I drove 16hrs round trip to get it. So all in I have roughly...

    Lateral movement, rear axle.

Well, glad you found the problem.Sorry it’s that.I guess your lucky you caught it before more carnage. A fence stay with a rag and gas works well for axle tubes.Even better is a binks gun (wash down gun) spraying gas at 100psi.Will clean the ever loving puck outta that sucker.

    Tilt steering question

Well,it’s coming up in the near future.Gonna go with some kind of plug and play digital setup.Autometer has a nice one and so does Dakota digital. My wiring is decent, but I’ve decided to rewire the truck and will do the gauge installation then

ORD rear shock mount brackets installed...

I have the same. It’s a good upgrade. Those bolts always work themselves loose. I hear it’s a real pain to repair on blazers and suburbans.Have to drop fuel tank. Seems like cheap insurance like a steering box brace.

    Lateral movement, rear axle.

Doesn’t a c-clip axle depart the vehicle if it loses the clip?

    Lateral movement, rear axle.

Possibly wheel bearing on that side?Did you try jacking up that side and try to shake the tire?I believe those are pressed on bearings. Excessive play in the differential, maybe?carrier caps loose, lost shim on carrier preload? If the c-clip was lost, you’d have most likely lost the tire and axle...

10 Bolt HP Rating with 4.10 Gears?

Ya,that doesn’t make a lot of sense, but stranger things have happened.Swap in a rear 3/4 ton 14 bolt with a 10 1/2” ring gear and it won’t be a issue. You can find them pre 80’ 3/4 ton trucks and vans.43 1/2” from perch to perch. You’ll have to run 16” wheels,a little driveshaft work.

10 Bolt HP Rating with 4.10 Gears?

    Wait,the 203?Sure it’s not a 208?208 will handle as well,so I guess it don’t matter. NP203 is 170lbs vs 85lbs of the NP208.It might matter

10 Bolt HP Rating with 4.10 Gears?

That power level isn’t a problem. It’s that power level with 35” tires.(10 bolt)Alloy shafts will help, but the ring gear and bearings won’t like it.8.5 ring gear is rather thin at 4.56.C-clip axle.Lose then shaft, lose the tire. NP 203 will handle it,supposing it’s in good shape. Automatic is...

    Front parking/marker light issue

First thing I would look for is a bad ground. Then I would check the headlight switch if none of the wiring is loose or broken, frayed.
