So I’m finally getting around to swapping my k20. Found what I think is a pretty good deal(unless someone has something else to offer) 05 5.3L w/165k miles with the matching tranny with a 1 year warranty for $2k. I currently have a sbc 350 and a TH400 with the np208. I originally through the 208...
Camar068 thanks for the good info. I agree a spreadsheet is a good idea. I’ll start one for sure. Appreciate your help

So I’m thinking about ditching the goodwrench 350 I’ve got in my 85 k20. Seen about 20 hours worth of YouTube’s and read a few forums on people who’ve done swaps. I’m not looking to get maximum power or anything crazy honestly just want the 2500 engine in my old 2500 truck.
I’ve seen what I...
I have an 85 k20 that by the grace of something or other very fortunate that I haven’t caught fire. The original fuse block was melted together and pretty much shot. Pulled the old under dash harness out and went to the junk yard and got one that was in pretty decent condition. I swapped all the...
Have I ever rebuilt a rear end? No... but I am starting to get the feeling that experience is rapidly approaching.. [emoji52]

Thanks for the advice guys. I’ll start with the idle and work my way back from there. Seems logical. Be the shits I tear apart the diff and that not be it lol. Couple of dudes said that the idle could be it but with no tach it’s hard to tell exactly. Prob won’t get to it before next weekend...
Couldn’t tell you, don’t have a tach. But one of the guys I was talking to said that could be it. I’ll prob mess with that first before I crack the diff

Oh yeah she pops real hard. I’ll post a video on YouTube tomorrow and post the link here. My fear is that it wasn’t shimmed correctly. Like I said I can figure shit out but if I don’t have to rebuild it that would be awesome. Just a hunting truck for my grandfather and I. Want to make sure we...
So I’ve done some reading and asked around. Been getting mixed opinions and thought I’d ask any and everything here their opinion. I have a 1985 K20 4x4 that SLAMS and I mean slams into reverse. Doesn’t shift hard in any other gear or when driving down the road. Like I’ve explained it to guys...
Thanks again everyone. I’ll have some better/more pictures up a little later. Plus have a few things(advice needed) I’d like to bounce off all of you.

Yeah they are aftermarket, I think the dude before me was going for some kind of pre runner look. I’ll be changing them out soon though cause the fender wells don’t fit and the engine is pretty much exposed. Which is not good for my purposes.
Hi guys! New to the forum. Just recently purchased a ‘85 K20. My first square body and first old truck tbh. She’s seen better days but runs pretty good for the shape she’s in. Looking forward to conversing with all of you and learning some knowledge. Thanks!
