    I guess its the base plate I dont think I have vaccum advance since it is an 87 tbi engine if the base plate is where the ignition module is bolted to than that's the plate im talking about

    i mean what is under the cap that plate moves when you hold onto the distributor housing the plate moves and it looks like it should be locked in place and should move with the housing until the clamp is tight

    sounds like an intake gasket but with a new motor it might be from the distrubitor base is were i would check first

    if they are still original ball joint they are tuff i did my lower ball joints and they took awhile to get them out they are even harder with out the special ball joint press since C claps are not strong enough
