Anyone been able to nail down some specs for Mark IV 454 engines?

Thanks for the link, but I've already read that particular article. The issue lies in that the vehicle the 454 came out of was a 1973 K20 suburban. Typically, such options were not possible, but this specific suburban was purchased by The Montana Forest Service, who around here are quite well...

RECOVERED AFTER STOLEN..HOW TO PREVENT THIS AGAIN

Orrrrrrrr, airbag in the seat cushion. If not disarmed before ignition, boom. Shouldn't be lethal, but if it is, that's not your fault :D

RECOVERED AFTER STOLEN..HOW TO PREVENT THIS AGAIN

THIS!!! The best strategy is of course to make it so difficult they give up. Having lived in Gary, Indiana and other rough theft heavy cities, here's what I've learned. The truth of the matter is that if someone wants it bad enough, they will get it. We come up with better solutions, they come...

Anyone been able to nail down some specs for Mark IV 454 engines?

Sorry if this isn't the correct area to post such a question, but I couldn't find a general question forum. Then again, I am a ridiculously stupid person, so odds are I am in fact in the wrong area. Again, my apologies. Now, I know that the 454s that were in trucks were pretty disappointing in...

    Hi guys :)

    Love orgy? Love orgy.

    Hi guys :)

Again though, super grateful, and you guys have helped so much! Even if I don't agree or don't take advice, I will always hear it out. I do occasionally try not to be a dummy :)
  7. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

Mostly Because I have the 454, and I have most of what I need. I know it's gonna get spendy, trust me been keeping track. But Considering the motor, axles, tranny, t-case, and almost everything else I may need was essentially given to me, why go with another motor? And I mean, 454 :p People...

    Hi guys :)

"catalytic converter" Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft Yeah that shit is long gone, and if it weren't it would be shortly. Hello non-emissions testing state :p And I'm actually going with the first of your two suggestions, the Lunati's BareBones (Part#...

    Hi guys :)

thanks for the heads up. Since we're not doing anything crazy on this engine, the groove in the bore should be enough, right? I can only really afford the tool or the lifters
  10. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

So basically the process and tool on this page, correct? http://garage.grumpysperformance.com/index.php?threads/does-comps-lifter-bore-groove-tool-really-work.5691/ I've never done this before but it seems fairly straight forward. Only issue is that it's another $160 for the tool :(

    Hi guys :)

Got the big ovals. I figure'd I'd add a spacer. Engine masters did a thing where they showed that a small gap allowing flow between both sides actually runs better than no gap at all. I was also looking at the performer series q-jet intake. A bit more but not much. Thoughts between the two?
  12. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

That's the plan. Carb will likely be a 750cfm Q-jet Okay okay, carbs4life I guess >.> So go through the cam manufacturers and use their recommendation for springs. Thanks guys, kinda pumped. While I'm here may as well show my true lack of knowledge on big blocks and just chevys in general...
  13. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

fuck that shit, I agree. Just was curious. So that cam/lifter kit, 7/16 rods, but what springs?
  14. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

Perhaps some day, but I really cant afford that atm. but hey, maybe I could do a tbi/roller cam conversion later :D
  15. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

Flat Tappet it is, yikes! So Moving forward I think I'll be deciding between @RustyPile 's suggestions. Now the second one is "Smooth Idling" so does that mean the first one may not be?
  16. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

NP, also when I posted that i hadn't realized there were two pages I didn't see Hey now, we all know saying one brand breaks down more is silly :p Oh I'd be doing a cam break in (That I actually know how to do :P), and everything else should be well broke in long before winter hits. Just...
  17. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

Thank you so much. And I would just get OEM springs to run with those? In the winter I also do snow removal for old folks, due to extreme temps here and the fact that carbs and cold weather don't get along, it's often best and sometimes necessary for me to leave the truck idling for periods of...
  18. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

Never actually done a cam swap, but I know the basics (Types of cams, the way they work, what changing them does). I could probably even find on that would work, however experience beats out guesswork every time. So, what cam might you recommend? Mostly stock motor, and I'm looking for something...
  19. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

She's a manual. Side note, if someone is messing with big blocks, I think it's safe to say they stopped caring long ago about mileage :p That said, I don't wanna kill it entirely. Just a cam that might wake the motor up so to speak. If I had to pick a rev range I'd say idle to say 5500. And if...
  20. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

If I do go with a different cam, any recommendations? Nothing to aggressive, after all this is a work truck/daily driver with stock internals.
  21. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

Never done it before myself. I know it isn't very hard or complicated, just tedious and not always truly accurate due mostly to human error. Honestly might just spend more money I don't have pick up a different one just to avoid the hassle and know exactly what I have. Or I may just run the pig...
  22. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

Perhaps that listing is just bunk? I mean it says it's not compatible with anything so idk either lol. I just searched Sealed Power CS-669 and picked that listing for it
  23. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

Yeah I think it is the cam, just makes sense. What doesn't is why they would put this cam in the damn thing. I even panicked and scrambled out the the shed to double check my engine code, which is a 454. So its just....dumb to do that. As for the highway thing, 2500 is perfect cruising speed...
  24. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

The guys who last had this rig running said it couldn't go more than 50-60mph without sound like it was gonna blow up. Just doing simple math on their drivetrain (sm465 with 1.00:1 final gear, 4.11 rear gear, and 29" tires) it didn't make sense. I wonder if this cam was why. I'm still not sold...
  25. Mr_Ryumaru

    Hi guys :)

For simple ease, here's listed spec on the Sealed Power CS-669 Camshaft Cam Type: Hydraulic Exhaust Valve Lift With OE Rocker Arm Ratio (In): 0 Inch Exhaust Duration At 0.050 Inch Lift (Deg): 193 Degree Exhaust Duration (Deg): 193 Degree Exhaust Lift (In): 0.2350 Inch Exhaust Lift (mm)...
