Comments. go with a crate or rebuild the orig 305 block

I just ordered the 260hp crate for mine today. I thought I would have buyers remorse but I don't yet. I think I will like it better than the rebuild I would have been able to do on the old motor. Either way you go, good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My 1972 Challenger Rallye build thread

The Challenger is my favorite car of all time. Someday I will own a '70 440 6 pack car. Have wanted one since I was a little kid and I can't shake it. I posted the other day about my neighbor having a Mopar graveyard in his pasture. I know he has a couple 440s. I don't know that he will turn...

    350 ID Help

I was the same way when I got my truck. Not for rebuild reasons, mainly because the Vin said it was a 305 truck and the PO didn't know anything about it. I was just intrigued and curious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rattling sound while accelerating?

Yes, it would cause an incredible amount of damage and then would seize up. That's why I advised you not to drive it anywhere. Don't apologize for inexperience. I was in your shoes a couple months ago and only know most of what I'm telling you because these guys told it to me. Sent from my...

    Rattling sound while accelerating?

When, in relation to your motor issue, did you last know for sure that you had oil pressure? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rattling sound while accelerating?

Did the gauge fail or do you just not have any oil pressure!? That's a pretty important observation. The very first thing I would do is a compression test, as this doesn't require the truck to run and will give you the most important information. I would certainly not drive it anywhere, because...

    Shake

While the truck is on jacks, check the wheels for play in the ball joints/wheel bearings. You certainly don't want a wheel bearing to fail while shagging down the road at 65mph. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rattling sound while accelerating?

I hope it didn't detonate itself into submission, but you can do stuff yourself to diagnose your problem without getting raped by a mechanic. Follow chengnys instructions and report back. You might also find a nick place to park it where you can work on it, as it will probably take a few days to...

    Shake

I think your shimmy problem is unrelated to your tire wear. I think that checking the pressure in your tires, getting an alignment and rotating them you will be OK. Do the trans test first. Then we will figure out where to go after that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Shake

You won't be able to tell unless you go get your tires balanced again. I doubt that's your problem. Do the trans test and see what happens. If your tires are wearing as bad as you say, you have something wrong but I doubt it's related to your shimmy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Shake

I don't have a pic of a wheel weight at the moment. Little lead weights on the edge of the wheel where the tire meets the wheel. Give it a Google and you will see what I'm talking about. If you lost any it will cause a vibration/shake. If your running all terrains they are probably radials so no...

    Shake

My guess is that you lost a wheel weight. Are you running radial tires or are the belted? You also need an alignment and to rotate those tires if you want to save them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Need Advice on Engine

When you go to pick up another set of spark plugs, spend the $4 and grab a new PCV valve. They can cause issues if they are faulty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Need Advice on Engine

Does anybody recall that I posted almost that same video on my build thread a month ago? Obviously different problems can cause similar results but as stated above, time you engine and set your idle mixture correctly. Check your oil for thinning and gas smell. Pull those spark plugs, because I'm...

    Rattling sound while accelerating?

I would certainly check out your distributor hold down and get a timing light on it. I would also check your exhaust out, especially at the collectors and make sure it's tight. If timing doesn't fix it, pour a little marvels mystery oil or 3in1 oil down the carb and it will quickly show you...

    please help quickly

All that would accomplish is fooling the person your selling it to. That's if he doesn't know any better and can't tell what you have done. Definitely not a solution to the problem at hand. Fix it right and sell it and keep a clear conscience. I have been on the receiving end of sales like that...

Comments. go with a crate or rebuild the orig 305 block

I just had to choose between rebuilding my 350 or buying a crate. Opted for the crate. Some people claim they can rebuild cheaper than a crate, but for $1500 you get a brand new 260hp motor set on your doorstep with a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. You can't beat it. Sent from my iPhone using...
