    Rough Idle / lower RPM

Hi all My truck has been running great for a few months now after locating a rough idle problem and repairing it. Turned out to be a cracked cruse control hose that came off the intake manifold. Had rough idle and raised the rpm. Repaired the hose, idle smoothed out and rpm dropped to normal...

    New Tires

Thanks for all the replies. Once I learned I have 6.5" wheels not 7" like the tire store guy said I have it was a no brainer for me. The 265's were too wide for the wheel and the 245"s where going to be a little shorter than the 235/85's. So 235/85 16's . Done and done.

    New Tires

Bucket What you posted caught my attention. " on the stock 6.5 wide rims " Took a look at the specs info I have and it says the stock wheel is 6.5. I remember the tire guy looking this up and said I have 7" wheels. The 265/75 16's call for a 7, 7.5 or 8" wheel.

    New Tires

Thats funny you mention old dry rotted Michelins. That is what I am replacing. 235/85 16 with cracks in the side walls so bad you can put your thumb nail in and tread that looks like new. They have a very hard ride. So what size do you have on your 4X4 Burb?

    New Tires

Both have to be order from the warehouse. I knew that going in because of my last purchase. He asked because in his words " most of the newer trucks come from the factory with wider tires" and I think I have to agree. Both tires are the same price, so no up sell. Christian: I see in your info...

    New Tires

Well when it comes to the snow aspect I am going from a pure highway tire to a AT tire. So I think that will be a wash. As far as fuel economy goes I don't think it's going to matter with my 454 4 BBL auto trans. Fuel economy is not in it's vocabulary. Up hill, down hill, pulling a trailer...

    New Tires

Getting ready to replace the tires on my 85 2wd Suburban which has the 238/85 16's. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted. The Firestone TransForce AT II 235/85 16 when the tire guy asked if I wanted to upgrade to the 265/75 16. That is exactly what I run on my 99 Ford F250 SD 4X4. Not really...

    Kickdown?

Just went out and took some pics of mine just for comparison. Pedal in idle position. I adjusted this switch about a month ago and works great. Solved my no downshift problem. If you can't adjust yours you may have a defective switch. That is a hard place to get a pic of.

    Kickdown?

I just went through this. I had to adjust the switch. Very easy. Just push on the square end of the sliding part of the switch until it bottoms out. Then go drive your truck. The first time you put the pedal to the floor it will set it. From then on your downshifts should be better. Worked for...

How to remove heater core from heater box

As fragile as plastic parts can be I felt this was a safer way to go. Normally I don't do the cut and slash method, but it seemed to fit here. Worked great. BTW I did a search for " heater core " didn't see your post

How to remove heater core from heater box

The Dremel route was the right choice. Down two sides and left the third making a nice little door. Core was out and back in with two straps that hold it in place. Put all the screws back in and a little 200 MPH tape and its good to go. Box is installed, cables hooked up and will wrap it up...

How to remove heater core from heater box

I have removed all the screws and now what is holding it is the pressed on door shafts. The door closest to the core was grooved and helps a little. The next door is pressed on.

How to remove heater core from heater box

Noticed a little stream on the passenger side floor mat today. Got to be the heater core. Read the shop manual and was able to get the distributor box out from behind the glove box. Now all I have to do is get the heater core out of the distributor box. After talking to my dad a retired GM...
