    Its not hard to pull. The 06 will probobly by drive by wire, if that matters to you. On the mileage issue 131k sounds much better than 248k. The ls engines are pretty robust though.     Headers and dual exhaust will give ya a nice bump in performance and mpg. If you can get away with it where you live, getting rid of the catalytic converter will help also.

    Transmission removal/install

    Another tip. When you get the dowel pins lined up, you can use a really long extension and a universal to put the bell housing bolts in from the bottom before you reinstall the cross member. Much easier than from the top.

    Lift size?

    You could get a off road design shackle flip kit and use longer rear springs out of a newer truck. That would smooth the ride some. That would also eliminate the rear blocks.

    Will the fuel tank off of the long bed fit a short bed? My pass side tank is bad.
